Fidelia looked over and sighed. "Suzanne, it appears your niece is causing a scene again. This is the second time tonight. We have a room full of friends and relatives watching. The Calverts have always been a respected, educated family. Please, handle this."
Her underlying message was crystal clear: This was a major celebration, and the Calverts' reputation was on the line. Don't humiliate both families.
Fidelia honestly couldn't understand it. The Calverts were notoriously well-mannered. How had Zoe turned out so disastrously?
Wilfred shook his head. "I already owe Julius's wife a massive favor, yet she's been harassed twice at my own birthday dinner. What a disgrace!"
Never one to miss an opportunity to stir the pot, Yvette chimed in, "Julius finally managed to find a wife. If Stella actually divorces him over this, how are we supposed to explain it to my sister when she comes back for the holidays?"
She simply detested Zoe's entire existence. The girl was painfully average-looking, yet she strutted around with unbelievable arrogance.
She was completely unworthy of her privileged upbringing.
At the mention of Julius's mother, Yolanda, a heavy silence fell over the table.
Both Yolanda and her husband were top-tier researchers deeply committed to national projects, practically never returning home.
Their son had barely survived a life-threatening ordeal to finally settle down. If Zoe's unhinged behavior destroyed his marriage, they would never be able to face Yolanda.
Vincent didn't utter a single word, but his aura turned so distinctly glacial that everyone else clamped their mouths shut.
Having been married to him for decades, Suzanne knew her husband was furious. She was equally enraged at her idiotic niece. She had explicitly warned the girl earlier, yet Zoe had shown zero restraint.
"Mom, Dad, I apologize. I'll take care of it right now."
She marched over to the younger generation's table and yanked Zoe back by the arm. "Are you done making a fool of yourself?! Go home! And don't you ever show your face in front of Julius or Stella again!"
If her status didn't strictly forbid public brawling, she would have slapped the girl herself. What an absolute embarrassment!
"You are so incredibly sweet, Stella. Thank you for being so gracious."
Suzanne felt genuine guilt toward her new niece-in-law.
She had just begged the girl not to take the earlier incident to heart, and less than an hour later, Zoe had nearly assaulted her. She hardly knew how to look Stella in the eye.
The rest of the table looked at Stella with renewed respect, while a few guys shot Julius incredibly envious glances.
Just like that, Stella had successfully cemented an image of a gentle, kindhearted angel in the minds of the entire Vaughn family.
If her martial arts masters knew what the Vaughns were thinking, they would have thrown their heads back and laughed themselves sick.
They were the only ones who knew just how absolutely lethal she truly was.
