Queen of Wild Cards novel Chapter 303

Julius thought they had already moved past this last night. After all, he had apologized—personally and physically.

But here it was, the morning reckoning!

Sigh, what must come, will come.

"Honey, there is absolutely nothing going on between me and Zoe. It's entirely one-sided on her part. She keeps bothering me, and I've never given her the time of day."

Stella casually traced his jawline with her finger and fired off three consecutive questions: "Then why did she call you 'Julius' so affectionately? Why did she say you liked her? And why on earth did she tell me to divorce you?"

Even though she knew it was a Zoe problem and that Julius had no interest in her, she still wanted to hear his explanation.

Julius took her hand, interlacing his fingers with hers. "She's after your husband. Couldn't you tell?"

"Of course I could tell. I just wanted to hear your side of the story. Otherwise, did you really think you'd be allowed back into our bedroom last night?"

Julius kissed her soft lips and said, "I knew my wife was brilliant. She saw me once when she visited the Vaughn estate three years ago.

After that, I heard she started asking around for my information. She constantly tried to ambush me wherever I went, even showing up here at the Blackwood Group, but my security always threw her out.

I even brought it up with Aunt Suzanne, and she tried talking to her. Later, maybe she heard I had been in an accident, so she backed off for a while. Now that she knows my legs are healed, she's trying to sink her claws in again."

Stella pulled her hand free, squishing both of his cheeks. "This face of yours really is a magnet for women, isn't it? First your childhood friend Yvonne Jeter, and now this obsessed Zoe. Be honest, how many more women are waiting in the wings?"

Julius hurriedly shook his head. "None. Seriously, there are no more."

Her fingers brushed against his lips, which were softer than a woman's. Unable to resist, she leaned in and pressed a kiss against them. He tasted so good.

With her touching, pinching, and kissing him, Julius's mind went wild. He cupped the back of her head and deepened the brief kiss into something far more intense.

"Wife, *that* is how you kiss. From now on, whenever you kiss me, do it like this, understand?" After pulling away, he asked, "Grandpa mentioned he owed you a favor. What was that about?" He had been so busy coaxing her last night that he hadn't found the chance to ask.

Speaking of his grandfather, Stella thought for a moment and said, "Oh, him. A year ago, he was playing chess at Riverbend Park.

There was this old man who was terrible at the game. Your grandfather threw a few insults his way, and they ended up getting into a massive argument.

The old guy got so worked up he collapsed on the ground and nearly died. I just happened to be passing by and saved his life."
