Queen of Wild Cards novel Chapter 309

Valery replied warmly, "That's still incredibly impressive! Look at our Cecilia—she couldn't fight her way out of a paper bag. She certainly didn't have any of those 'desperate reactions'."

Only Julius knew the truth. Stella's skills weren't just a "desperate reaction." He completely believed Cecilia's exaggerated story; Stella absolutely had the lethal ability to drop someone in a single move.

He had seen it firsthand at the Riverside Grill. She had made quick work of those thugs, leaving them crying on the pavement.

"Julius, where did you manage to find such a beautiful and capable girlfriend? Do you think you could introduce someone like her to Ian?" Edmund asked, his eyes lighting up with genuine admiration.

Even if Stella was just acting on pure adrenaline as she claimed, maintaining that level of composure and quick thinking was extraordinary. He would love to have a daughter-in-law like her.

"Mr. Eames, Stella isn't my girlfriend. She is my wife. We're legally married."

Julius placed his hand possessively on his wife's waist, his tone brimming with immense satisfaction.

Ian's jaw nearly hit the floor. "Julius, you're married?! Are you kidding me? When did this happen? None of us had any idea. You kept that locked down tight!"

"When the right time comes, it just happens. My grandmother was eager for us to settle down, so we got our marriage license first. We'll hold the ceremony later, and you'll all be invited to celebrate."

There was no need to delve into the complicated details. Only the family needed to know the full story.

Edmund laughed heartily. "Then we will absolutely be there for the wedding! Stella, my daughter absolutely adores you. Do you mind if we call you Stella?"

"Of course not, Mr. Eames."

At that moment, the family butler approached. "Sir, Madam, dinner is served."

Edmund nodded. "Excellent. Julius, Stella, please join us in the dining room."

"Thank you."

Julius took Stella's hand and followed the Eames family into the dining room.

As for the taste, that remained to be seen.

Edmund and Valery took their seats first.

"Julius, Stella, please, have a seat," Edmund warmly urged.

Julius pulled out a chair for Stella, waiting until she was seated before taking the spot next to her.

Valery smiled affectionately. "This silly girl was demanding we prepare a royal banquet to thank her savior.

If we had actually cooked a full imperial feast, it probably would have intimidated you too much to eat! Come, come, dig in. Eat whatever catches your eye."

"You're far too kind, Mrs. Eames. Thank you for going to all this trouble."

"Oh, it was the chef and the staff who did all the hard work. Please, try it," Valery said, picking up her silverware. Since it was customary for the hosts to begin the meal, she took the first bite to invite her guests to start.
