Stella began to sample the incredible spread before her.
Since her hosts had gone to such immense lengths, she didn't want their efforts to go to waste.
Throughout the meal, Cecilia was overwhelmingly enthusiastic, constantly using the serving utensils to pile food onto Stella's plate. The table was so large that she frequently had to stand up and stretch to reach the dishes further away.
"Stella, try this!"
"Stella, this one is amazing, I just had some!"
"Stella, the chef said this soup has been simmering since this morning. It's so flavorful, you have to try it!"
"Stella..."
She was completely hijacking Julius's job, robbing him of the perfect opportunity to publicly dote on his wife. Julius was visibly unamused.
This Cecilia Eames had zero situational awareness.
Ian noticed the tension and silently found it hilarious. He reached over and pulled his hyperactive sister back to her seat.
"Cecilia, aren't you exhausted? Sit down and eat your own food. You have to go back to school tomorrow. Shouldn't you focus on enjoying this massive feast while you can?"
Cecilia had been entirely focused on feeding her idol. Interrupted by her brother and reminded of her impending return to school, she pouted. "Ian, couldn't you have waited until after dinner to bring up school?"
"You can't hide at home forever. How many days have you skipped already?"
"I went through a traumatic experience! I just took a few days off to recover. Do you really have to keep bringing it up?"
"I'm just trying to make sure you eat well. Here, let your big brother serve you. Your arms are too short to reach the dishes on that side anyway."
Ian played the role of the devoted older brother perfectly. His little sister was completely oblivious to the dark cloud hovering over Julius's face.
With Cecilia finally occupied, Julius reclaimed his rightful duty of serving his wife, and his mood significantly improved.
Cecilia crossed her arms behind her back, refusing to take them.
Edmund stepped in. "Please, just accept them. They truly aren't overly valuable. Cecilia spent all day shopping yesterday to pick them out herself. It's just her way of saying thank you."
"Alright, then we'll gladly accept. Thank you, Cecilia." Hearing this, Stella relented. Refusing again would have been genuinely impolite and would have crushed Cecilia's feelings.
Cecilia immediately lunged forward and hugged Stella, beaming. "Stella, when can I see you again?"
She had finally managed to hug her idol.
Stella hugged her back with a warm smile. "We added each other's contacts, didn't we? It's easy. Just text me whenever you're free."
"It's a promise!"
"Promise."
