Queen of Wild Cards novel Chapter 317

By the time Julius returned home, it was past 1 AM.

Not wanting to wake Stella, he showered in the guest bathroom before slipping into their room.

Seeing her sleeping soundly while hugging a pillow, he gently lifted a corner of the blanket and climbed in.

It was as if she had a radar for him. Even fast asleep, the moment she caught his familiar scent, she instinctively gravitated toward him.

She abandoned the pillow and curled her body against his warmth.

Julius quickly extended his arm, pulling his sleeping beauty into a full embrace.

This was his favorite part of every night—holding her as she slept. Just looking at her peaceful face brought him a deep sense of satisfaction and comfort.

He decided to tell her about Wade tomorrow, after she woke up.

The next morning.

Stella woke up to find Julius making breakfast instead of heading to the office.

"Julius, it's not the weekend. Why aren't you at work?"

"I'm staying home with you today. Come eat, I made your favorite runny eggs," Julius said, untying his apron as he plated the food.

Stella sat at the dining table, happily enjoying the breakfast he made. His cooking was genuinely incredible; everything he made tasted amazing.

"Spit it out. What exactly is keeping you home today? This is very out of character for the great Mr. Blackwood."

Julius was incredibly disciplined. Unless it was a major emergency, he never skipped work.

He lightly tapped her nose. "Can't I just want to stay home and spend time with you?"

Wade had explicitly said that if he found out who cured Julius's legs, he would kill them.

"Don't worry. Didn't you say there's a warrant out for him? He's probably laying low right now. He wouldn't dare show his face."

Besides, if Wade actually had a death wish and came looking for her, she wouldn't be the one ending up in a body bag.

"I'm just afraid he'll get desperate and try to use you as leverage against me."

"He can't use me as leverage. I won't give him the chance. But what about Jason? You should warn him. Better yet, assign him a bodyguard."

Jason had zero combat skills. The only thing sharp about him was his tongue.

What surprised her was that Wade had actually intended to kill her. Thankfully, she had been sitting at a blind spot away from the window in Gideon's room.

And in the orchard, she hadn't blindly trusted Wade either, otherwise she would have been in serious danger.
