Queen of Wild Cards novel Chapter 326

Every single time you said you wanted to be my bride, I gave you the exact same response. Have you conveniently forgotten?"

His mouthpiece fired up again. "Julius, she already knows you're married, yet she still has the nerve to say these shameless things right to Stella's face. Why are you even trying to spare her feelings?

Stella, let me tell you. Every time she demanded to be his bride, my brother would say, 'No way, you're too ugly.'"

Stella nearly burst out laughing. No wonder Julius had hesitated to say it out loud. That really was humiliating.

"Jason, you—"

Being publicly humiliated by Jason like this utterly destroyed Yvonne's pride. She wanted nothing more than to slap him across the face.

Seeing the situation deteriorating rapidly, Mrs. Jeter desperately tried to smooth things over. "Alright, Yvonne, that's enough. We're here to visit Nadine. Let's not drag up silly childhood stories. We're all adults here."

Nadine interjected smoothly. "Byron, I'm perfectly fine, as you can see. Thank you for your concern. You've checked in on me, so why don't you take them home now?

I wouldn't want some silly childhood nonsense to cause a misunderstanding between my granddaughter-in-law and my Julius. I prayed long and hard at the temple to find a wife for my grandson, and she is an absolute treasure. I won't have her dealing with unnecessary drama."

She saw right through it. Yvonne had specifically come here today to humiliate Stella and try to drive a wedge between her and Julius.

Trying to sabotage her grandson's marriage? Not on her watch!

"Nadine, please forgive her. Yvonne is just young and speaks without thinking. She didn't mean anything by it."

Byron turned to Stella. "Ms. Hawthorne, please don't misunderstand. Yvonne truly didn't mean any harm."

He was absolutely furious. His idiotic daughter had managed to offend the entire Blackwood family in just a few sentences. They had explicitly agreed before leaving the house that they were coming here to mend fences!

"Yvonne, apologize to Julius and Ms. Hawthorne right now."

"No!" Yvonne shot back stubbornly. "I didn't do anything wrong!"

"Dad! Why are you hitting me again?!" Yvonne wailed, clutching her cheek. "You hit me at the Blackwoods', and now you're hitting me at home! Am I even your daughter? You might as well just beat me to death!"

"Why do you keep hitting her over every little thing?" Mrs. Jeter protested.

"Because she's an idiot!" Byron roared. "What did I tell both of you before we left the house?! And look at the absolute mess she made at the Blackwood estate!

Not only did we fail to mend the rift, but things are worse than ever! I actually had a shot at proposing a collaboration with Julius, and she completely ruined it!"

How had he never realized his own daughter was this unbelievably stupid?

She couldn't do anything right, but she sure knew how to ruin everything else!

He was practically seeing red.
