Julius pulled a disposable mask from his pocket, tore open the packaging, and gently hooked it over her ears.
"Julius, why are you making me wear a mask? We haven't needed these in years."
Julius coaxed her softly, "Be good and leave it on for now. You can take it off once we're on the plane, okay?" His wife was too beautiful; he didn't want strangers staring at her.
"Alright." She hadn't noticed the people trying to take pictures, but if he wanted her to wear it, she would.
They didn't have to wait long before the boarding announcement echoed through the terminal.
Coincidentally, she had booked a first-class ticket, and Julius's seat was right next to hers.
She pulled down her mask and smirked. "Smooth move, Julius. You even figured out exactly which seat I bought. You bought the one right next to me on purpose, didn't you?"
She absolutely refused to believe it was a coincidence.
"Of course. Can't I want to sit next to my wife?"
He had checked her flight details the moment she mentioned the trip and used his connections to swap the seat next to hers.
Stella looped her arm through his and smiled sweetly. "Alright, whatever the big boss says."
She was in a fantastic mood. Heading to a tournament with a man better-looking than most male models right by her side was a pretty great way to travel.
Julius gently bumped his forehead against hers. "We've been married for months, and I haven't taken you on a proper trip yet. Since there's a tournament you actually want to see, I figured I'd keep you company."
"But what about the Blackwood Group? Who's going to handle your work?"
With Grandpa gone, she had to hold the Blackwood Group together while taking care of two boys. It wasn't until I was old enough to officially take over the company that she finally got a break.
Thankfully, my mother's family provided a strong backing, so outsiders didn't dare try to carve up the Blackwood Group."
Those "outsiders" were a complicated mix: extended relatives within the Blackwood family, rogue shareholders, and rival families constantly watching the Blackwood empire like hungry wolves.
After all, the Blackwood Group was an incredibly lucrative prize.
Stella leaned her head on his shoulder. "Grandma went through a lot. No wonder you and Jason are so devoted to her."
"Yeah. If it wasn't for Grandma, we probably would have been raised at our maternal grandparents' house. That's why, when Grandma demanded I marry you, I agreed without hesitation, even though I knew she was faking her illness."
