It was late afternoon.
By the time Julius and Stella arrived at the sports center, the afternoon events were just about to start.
The entire tournament was operating under the official competition rules of the World Combat Alliance.
The events were divided into men's and women's divisions, with the main categories being choreographed forms and freestyle combat.
The choreographed forms included over twenty different categories, featuring both unarmed routines and various weapons like broadswords, spears, straight swords, and staffs.
Freestyle combat focused on practical, mixed martial arts fighting, divided into competitive, practical, and exhibition categories, boasting a rich and flexible array of techniques.
The arena was packed with martial arts enthusiasts from all over the world. People were holding up banners, waving their national flags, and blowing whistles. The atmosphere was absolutely electric.
The afternoon schedule consisted of individual and team form competitions.
Stella was particularly interested in Veridia Country's martial arts. Whenever a Veridian competitor stepped onto the mat, she buzzed with visible excitement.
Julius enjoyed watching too, but he was much more composed about it. He sat quietly, occasionally discussing the opponents' techniques with her.
He thoughtfully kept a bottle of water ready for her, not wanting her to ruin her throat from cheering too loudly.
She was acting just like an excited kid, completely overjoyed just to be at a competition.
"Julius, look! It's one of our Veridian athletes again. Do you think he can win the championship?"
"He just stepped onto the mat, so it's hard to tell yet. Let's watch for a bit," he said, gently pulling her back down. "Sit down and watch, don't exhaust yourself."
Nearby, a few blonde and platinum-haired guys were gossiping about the match.
"Look at that Veridian guy. He's so small. Could he even take a single punch from our fighter?"
"No way. I bet he gets knocked out before he even lasts ten minutes."
"Is Veridia Country completely out of talent? Why would they send someone like that to compete? This is an international championship."
Besides, firing off that many complex insults in one breath—if they didn't catch the meaning, wasn't it a waste of a good insult?
"Here, you must be thirsty after all that. Drink some water." He considerately unscrewed the cap for her.
Stella took the bottle, took a huge gulp, and shot the men a dark, calculating look, the corner of her lips curling up slightly.
If any of her masters had seen that specific expression, they would have known someone was about to have a very bad day.
Who would ever suspect such a beautiful young woman of playing dirty?
The men glared at Stella. They didn't say anything for the moment, but their eyes and expressions were full of malice. They exchanged pointed glances, clearly plotting something nasty.
Julius took all of this in.
Stella noticed it too, but couldn't care less. They were just a few pieces of trash; she'd deal with them easily enough.
The minor drama in the stands didn't disrupt the flow of the competition in the slightest.
