Since she wanted to have some fun, he would back her up completely.
He knew she had the skills to back it up.
The captain looked at Julius. The man carried an aura of absolute authority; he didn't seem like the type to make empty boasts. Plus, it was true—they had literally no one else to send into the ring.
Bracing himself, the captain glanced toward a specific VIP section. Only after seeing a subtle nod from someone there did he turn back.
Julius followed his gaze and noticed the man nodding. He assumed it was a high-ranking Veridian official.
The captain exhaled sharply. "Alright. I trust you, miss. Win or lose, I want to thank you on behalf of Veridia. But please, prioritize your own safety. Your life comes first."
Having someone step into the ring meant they wouldn't be accused of forfeiting or cowardice.
But he still dreaded the thought of this young girl dying up there.
While the official rule stated that getting knocked out of the ring meant elimination, history showed that a single, full-force kick could easily be lethal.
And some fighters did it on purpose, purely to humiliate the victim's country.
In this particular tournament, regardless of injuries or fatalities, no one would be held legally responsible.
Stella smiled confidently. "No need to thank me. I'm a Veridian too, and I'm going to bring the hosting rights home for us."
Just as the matches were officially starting, the staff member the captain had sent to search for their missing fighter returned.
He looked defeated. "I'm sorry, captain. I checked everywhere nearby, but I couldn't find him."
The captain patted his shoulder. "It's fine. We have someone stepping in to represent Veridia."
Stella had drawn number twenty-six. She was matched up against the competitor from Faldoria Country.
Her opponent was a towering, broad-shouldered man with brown hair, sharp features, and a thick beard. He looked like he packed an immense amount of physical power.
The man sneered down at her. "Is Veridia completely out of men? Sending a little girl like you? I could crush you with one finger. Do yourself a favor and forfeit before you throw your life away."
She barely reached his chest. Was he going to accidentally kill her with a single punch?
It was almost a shame to destroy such a pretty little thing. Maybe he'd go easy on her.
"You talk too much. If we're fighting, let's go. If not, roll out of the ring and forfeit." Stella noticed his condescending glare and immediately decided to gift him a pair of black eyes.
"If you've got a death wish, don't blame me!" Roaring, the massive man swung a heavy fist straight at Stella.
