Queen of Wild Cards novel Chapter 340

He simply hadn't expected the little woman to be this skilled, or that she would be representing Veridia in such an elite tournament.

Which meant that back at the Astoria Grand Hotel, when he had tried to drug her and take her to Mr. Wilson, her dodging it hadn't been luck—it was entirely intentional.

Talk about looks being deceiving!

But she wouldn't be so lucky this time.

Sitting quietly in an inconspicuous corner of the arena, Wilson had clearly recognized her as well.

"How very interesting. I didn't expect to run into her here. She won't be walking away so easily this time."

He let out a sinister chuckle and snapped his fingers, signaling a henchman.

The man leaned in close, and after Wilson whispered a few hushed instructions, the subordinate nodded and slipped away.

Completely oblivious to the trap being set, Stella cheerfully prepared for the second round of eliminations.

In this round, she was matched up against a fighter from Rubinia Country.

She immediately disliked him. It had nothing to do with him personally; she just inherently loathed Rubinia Country, and by extension, anyone associated with it.

Compared to the massive Faldorian fighter, he was significantly shorter, though still taller and much stockier than Stella.

As soon as her opponent stepped up, he started rattling off a formal greeting in his native tongue. She couldn't understand a word and didn't even want to try, finding him way too loud.

Impatient, she interrupted, "You don't need to keep squawking at me. Even if you bow down and call me your ancestor, I'm still going to beat you up."

And she was going to hit him extra hard, simply because he was Rubinian. Of all the people to fight, he just had to be drawn against her. Didn't he know she absolutely despised Rubinia Country? To her ears, their aggressive, shouted greetings sounded exactly like a squawking parrot.

Julius had just unscrewed his water bottle. He took a sip and nearly choked when he heard her.

*Please, the man was just formally saying, 'I look forward to our match'!*

The man had been charging with full forward momentum. Tripped by her extended leg, he lost his balance and face-planted hard into the mat.

The audience erupted into roars of laughter.

Julius chuckled too. His girl was so mischievous, intentionally making a fool out of her opponent.

Completely humiliated, the Rubinian fighter scrambled to his feet, his face flushed with fury. "I'll kill you!"

She was completely devoid of martial honor, actually daring to trip him like that.

Despicable!

Stella sighed silently: *See? The second he gets mad, he starts squawking again.*

She held up a hand in a 'stop' motion and pointed at him. "Stop, hold on a second!"
