Sabrina grabbed her hand and asked, "Stella, what exactly is your relationship with the Blackwood family, and why are you going to be so busy later?"
"Oh, so you didn't know either! Stella is married to Julius. She's his wife," Sylvie proudly announced.
Sylvie felt instantly vindicated. She wasn't the very last person to find out after all!
Sabrina's eyes widened in utter shock. "What?! You married Julius?! He's so old, how is he possibly good enough for you?"
She had fully intended on kidnapping this adorable girl and setting her up with her brother, Hammer Sherwood. But before she could even make a move, the good catch was snatched up!
"Sabrina Sherwood, what did my brother ever do to you? Why are you badmouthing him like that? Since when is my brother old?" Jason's voice suddenly cut in.
He had heard Sabrina had arrived and was looking for her to discuss a few things. Hearing she was in the back garden, he had come specifically to find her.
Only to walk right into her trashing his brother.
Caught red-handed talking behind someone's back, Sabrina stubbornly fired back, "Is he not old? Stella is barely twenty, and your brother is twenty-eight!"
"That's not old! My brother is mature and sophisticated. As long as the age gap isn't over ten years, it doesn't count as old, okay?!"
There were wealthy men in their forties and fifties marrying eighteen- or twenty-year-old girls. His brother was only eight years older than his sister-in-law. That wasn't old at all.
He was allowed to call his brother old, but nobody else was.
"Fine, fine, he's not old. I'm not going to argue with you." Surprisingly, Sabrina backed down.
Since Stella and Julius were already married, making a fuss about it would just make her incredibly obnoxious.
In all honesty, Julius was an exceptional catch. He was incredibly handsome, wealthy, powerful, and kept his nose clean. There hadn't been a single scandal attached to his name.
Half the unmarried heiresses in the city were desperate to marry him, and yet he had gotten married in absolute secrecy. A lot of hearts were going to be shattered tonight.
It was just a shame she couldn't drag Stella home to her family. Her brother was a step too late.
Just then, a servant approached Stella.
"Madam, Mr. Blackwood is requesting your presence in the front hall."
"Alright, got it." He probably wanted her to help greet the guests, considering people were starting to filter into the garden.
"Sylvie, Cecilia, you guys keep chatting. I have to step away for a bit."
"Go do your thing, don't worry about us. We won't get bored."
"Yeah, don't worry. The aesthetic here is so beautifully classic and atmospheric. We were so caught up talking that we haven't even had a chance to look around properly. Come on, Sylvie, let's go explore."
Seeing them link arms and wander off, Stella made her way toward the front hall.
The entire setup in the back garden had been handled by the professional team Julius hired, and it truly was gorgeous and authentic. There were going to be a lot of activities tonight, so it was bound to be a lot of fun.
