When Stella reached the front hall, she saw Julius waiting for her.
"Stella, I need to talk to you," Julius said, gently pulling her away.
Stella found it slightly amusing. Jason had literally just said the exact same thing to Sabrina in the back garden before dragging her off.
Why was the exact same scenario happening to her right now?
He pulled her into an empty, quiet room.
Treading carefully, he began, "Stella, there's something I've been keeping from you. The real reason I invited so many people over to celebrate tonight...
Is because I want to use this opportunity to officially announce our marriage to everyone. I want the world to know that you're my wife. I don't want to keep our marriage hidden anymore. Are you mad at me?"
He was genuinely worried that if he just announced it in front of a massive crowd later, Stella might be furious.
After agonizing over it, he decided it was better to communicate with her in advance.
She had a bit of a temper, and if she stormed off or shut him down in public, it would be humiliating.
Seeing him look so deeply terrified of making her angry, Stella couldn't help but do some internal self-reflection. Was she really that intimidating?
"Please don't just stay quiet. If you really don't want to do it, that's fine. I just won't say anything later," Julius said, growing slightly anxious at her silence.
He had never been this nervous during a high-stakes business negotiation.
Seeing him completely strip away his usual composed, authoritative CEO persona, standing there looking like an anxious teenage boy terrified of upsetting his girlfriend, made her heart melt.
She went up on her tiptoes and pressed a gentle kiss to his lips. "I'm not mad. If you want to announce it, then announce it. I figured out what you were planning a long time ago.
You already publicly stated my identity at the company and at the Eames residence, didn't you? If I was going to be mad, I would have stopped talking to you a long time ago."
Hearing that, Julius pulled her into a tight, overwhelming hug, his voice thick with joy. "Stella, I really don't have to be a secret husband anymore. I'm so incredibly happy."
Striking while the iron was hot, he added, "Stella, let's pick a date for our wedding, and then we can start a family. What do you say?"
Even though they were legally married, he still desperately wanted to give her a massive, spectacular wedding and make her the happiest bride in the world.
Putting on a wedding gown and being a beautiful bride was every girl's dream. Whatever other women had, his wife was going to have too, and hers would be a million times better.
Stella buried her face in his chest. "I'll leave it up to you."
Was that a yes?!
He wrapped his arms around her, holding her impossibly tight.
The sheer rush of happiness hit him so fast that Julius felt entirely lightheaded.
Today, not only had his little wife agreed to let him publicly announce their marriage, but she had also agreed to have a wedding and start a family with him.
