Queen of Wild Cards novel Chapter 427

Brighton Hospital.

"Wilfred, you get to go home today. Excited?"

Ever since Stella had successfully operated on Julius's grandfather, she had visited the hospital to take care of him whenever she had free time.

She wasn't sleeping over at the hospital anymore, though, because Julius had heavily protested her absence from their bed.

Wilfred chuckled warmly. "Of course I am. No matter how nice this place is, there's nothing quite like being in your own home."

The hospital had excellent facilities, but it simply couldn't replace the comfort of home.

"Just remember, no drinking once you're discharged. No smoking either, and you have to stick to a light, healthy diet."

"I know, I know. I'll make sure to take good care of myself. I still have to stick around long enough to hold your and Julius's baby, after all."

Having just walked the tightrope between life and death, he was fiercely determined to stay healthy.

It had been a long time since there was a baby in the family.

Vincent's children were all grown up and boring now.

As for Timothy and Yvette—those two disappointments only cared about their careers. They were in their thirties and still showed no interest in getting married.

Now that his eldest grandson was finally married, placing his hopes on Stella felt much more realistic.

He just prayed they would have a baby soon. Boy or girl, it didn't matter. He just wanted to hold a great-grandchild.

At the mention of babies, Fidelia perked up. "Exactly! Stella, you and Julius should try for a baby while you're young. It'll bring some life into the house."

When people got older, they didn't ask for much. They just wanted a house full of children and grandchildren.

God only knew when Timothy and Yvette would finally tie the knot.

Word on the street was that Timothy at least had a girlfriend, but Yvette was a hopeless case. She didn't even have a boyfriend, and whenever they tried to set her up on blind dates, she stubbornly refused. It gave Fidelia endless gray hairs.

Just as Stella was about to reply, her phone rang.

"Wilfred, Fidelia, I'm going to step out and take this real quick."

Stella casually fired off a massive list of her absolute favorite dishes.

If they were treating her to dinner to show their sincerity, they needed to order what she actually liked.

Whenever she and Julius didn't feel like cooking, they frequented the Astoria Restaurant, so she knew exactly what the kitchen did best.

Besides, she wouldn't be the only one eating.

Julius chuckled softly. "Got it. I'll let him know. I'll finish up early and come pick you up tonight."

When Stella had said, 'Tell Vernon,' Julius had put her on speakerphone, ensuring Vernon caught every word.

"You heard my wife, Vernon?"

She had listed way too many dishes for him to memorize, so he happily dumped the problem onto Vernon's lap. He was the one hosting, after all.

Vernon wiped a bead of sweat from his forehead. "Loud and clear!"
