Queen of Wild Cards novel Chapter 454

Being able to go out in five days was great news. Leaving the villa meant she could gather more useful intel.

It was just a shame she couldn't get the study passcode sooner. She had originally planned on getting him drunk tonight.

...

The Blackwood Manor.

Julius Blackwood had returned from his business trip.

He had arrived back at the Imperial Gardens in the middle of the night, only to find Stella wasn't home.

She had promised she’d only be gone for five days. It had been half a month now. How could she not be home?

He had been working himself to the bone for the past two weeks, pulling twelve-plus hour shifts every day just so he could finish early and come back to his wife.

Yet, he had come home to an empty house.

He figured she might have gotten lonely and gone to stay at the manor with his grandmother.

It had been too late to call her last night, so he planned to do it today.

But when he woke up, he decided against calling and just drove straight to the manor instead.

Surprising her in person would be much better.

It had been half a month. He missed her so much it physically hurt.

He pulled up to the manor.

Nadine hadn't seen her eldest grandson in over two weeks. Her face lit up the moment he walked in. “Julius is finally back from his trip!”

He helped her sit down on the sofa. “Yes, Grandma, I’m back. See? I came straight to see you the moment I returned.”

“Where’s Stella? Why didn't she come with you? Didn't you take her on your business trip? Did she not come back with you?”

Julius’s heart skipped a beat. She wasn't at the manor?

Then where was she?
