Queen of Wild Cards novel Chapter 478

Today, she ran into Doris again.

Doris had zero memory of their previous encounter. She had no idea she had sought Stella out or confessed things she never should have said.

But Doris couldn't shake the creeping feeling that something was deeply wrong.

"Stop right there. I have a question for you."

Stella pretended not to hear her and kept walking.

She was heading toward the IT and communications hub today, figuring there was a solid chance the undercover agents might have been assigned there.

"I told you to stop! Are you deaf?" Doris stormed forward, physically blocking Stella's path.

Stella paused, feigning innocence. "Oh, Doris. Were you talking to me?"

Doris glared. "You're the only one out here. Who else would I be talking to? You're doing this on purpose, aren't you!"

Ever since this bitch had hooked Tiger, she'd become unbelievably arrogant. Doris had no idea what Tiger was thinking—Stella wasn't even one of their own, yet he let her wander the compound like she owned the place.

"Did you need something?" Stella neither admitted nor denied the accusation.

"I want to know why you're always creeping around the compound. What exactly are you looking for?"

Doris had a gut feeling this woman was scoping the place out.

She desperately wanted her gone. If Stella initiated an escape, Doris was more than willing to quietly help her out the door.

Ideally, she wanted Tiger to believe this woman had betrayed him and fled on her own.

Tiger never showed mercy to anyone who betrayed him.

"I'm not looking for anything. I just get bored sitting in the house all day, so I go for walks," Stella replied airily.
