Queen of Wild Cards novel Chapter 479

Doris stared down at the collapsed woman, a cold spike of panic piercing her chest.

She had only slapped her—and not even that hard. How the hell did she just pass out?

Dropping to a crouch, Doris shoved her shoulder. "Hey, stop faking it. Get up."

Doris stared at her own hand. Was this woman made of glass? One slap and she was out cold?

She had to be faking!

Doris stood her ground, determined to wait out the act.

After a few moments passed with the woman still motionless on the dirt, Doris shoved her again. "Hey! I told you to get up, do you hear me? If you keep faking, I'm going to kick you right in the stomach. One solid kick, and that baby of yours is gone.

"I know you're pretending! If you don't get up right now, I'm actually going to kick you!"

Still convinced it was all an act, Doris pulled her leg back, fully intending to follow through.

Before her foot could swing forward, a thunderous roar shattered the air, terrifying her so badly she immediately dropped her leg.

"Doris, don't you dare!"

The news of Stella fainting had been immediately radioed to Tiger.

From a distance, he had seen Doris standing over her and heard every vile threat that spilled from her mouth.

His voice was lethal. "You have a death wish, Doris!"

Tiger closed the distance in seconds, his foot lashing out in a brutal kick that sent Doris sprawling.

She rolled twice in the dirt, clutching her agonizing stomach, entirely unable to stand.

But her survival instinct was absolute. Pushing through the blinding pain, she dragged herself forward, wrapping her arms around Tiger's leg. "B-Boss... I... I didn't mean it! I was just trying to scare her. I wasn't actually going to kick her!"

Tiger was merciless. If she didn't talk her way out of this instantly, she was a dead woman.

And how did he get here so fast? The perimeter was supposed to be completely empty!

Tiger scooped the unconscious woman into his arms, his eyes burning with cold-blooded fury. "Not only did you try to kick her, but you knocked her out first. You dared to lay a hand on what's mine. You must be tired of living. Guards, drag her away and throw her to Paula."
