The next morning.
Julius woke Stella up bright and early.
Still half-asleep, Stella mumbled groggily, "Darling, the sun isn't even up yet. Why are we up so early?"
Julius gently pinched her flush, sleep-warmed cheek and said fondly, "You silly girl, didn't you say you wanted to watch the sunrise today? If we don't get up now, we'll miss it."
Thankfully, they were right on the beach, so they just had to step out of the hotel. If it involved hiking up a mountain, she definitely would have slept through it.
"Oh, alright."
Stella forced herself up and went to the bathroom to freshen up.
Splashing cold water on her face helped wake her up.
Hand in hand, they walked down to the beach. The sky hadn't fully lightened, still holding onto the last traces of the night.
They strolled across the soft, powdery sand, leaving a long trail of footprints behind them.
After walking for a bit, they found a large rock and sat down to wait for the sunrise.
The horizon slowly began to brighten, a soft pearlescent glow breaking through the darkness, signaling the arrival of a new day.
The morning ocean breeze carried a crisp chill. Julius wrapped his arms around Stella, pulling her against his chest and covering her with his large coat so she wouldn't freeze.
Nestled safely in his embrace, Stella listened to the waves crashing against the shore. It sounded like nature's own melody, or perhaps the whispers of mermaids in the deep.
She gazed out into the distance. The colors at the edge of the sky began to deepen, shifting from that pale glow into a brilliant, golden brilliance. The sun breached the horizon like a radiant pearl, rising higher by the second.
The water caught the light, and soon the sun lifted fully from the edge of the sea. Its dazzling light acted like a torch, painting the entire sky in breathtaking shades of fiery orange and red.
"Darling, look! The sun is up," Stella cheered with excitement.
"Yeah, the sun is up, and a new day has started. I love you."
