Stepping into the mall, she was met with a dazzling array of jewelry that practically blinded her.
The layout was neatly sectioned off: diamond rings, necklaces, bracelets, brooches, hair clips, and miscellaneous accessories were all displayed in their own dedicated areas.
Stella took her time wandering through every section, buying anything that caught her eye.
She picked out a necklace for herself and grabbed several small gifts for the people back home.
She got a brooch for Julius, a pair of cufflinks for Jason, a bracelet for Sabrina, hair clips for Sylvie and Cecilia, and a diamond-studded model car for Carter Coleman.
Nothing else felt appropriate for gifting. It wasn't like she could just hand out rings to her friends!
Diamonds felt a bit too flashy for the elderly family members.
As for anyone else, she simply didn't care enough to buy them anything.
With her shopping complete, she was just about to leave when she spotted someone who absolutely shouldn't have been there.
There she was, clinging to the arm of a man in his fifties, smiling sweetly as they browsed for necklaces.
It was none other than Chloe Hawthorne.
Shouldn't she be in class right now? What was she doing halfway across the world?
And who was the old guy she was draped all over?
From what Stella knew, Frederick Hawthorne had been doing exceptionally well in business lately by throwing Julius's name around as his son-in-law.
She had even heard he visited the Blackwood estate during the holidays to network.
He certainly wasn't broke enough to force Chloe into becoming a sugar baby.
This guy looked even older than Frederick. Did Chloe really have zero standards?
Oh, look at that. They were kissing!
How on earth did she stomach that?
As she stepped out of the mall and prepared to head back, a man in his thirties suddenly blocked her path.
He was towering, forcing her to look up just to see his face.
Was this a cheesy attempt at picking her up?
The man gave a polite, formal bow before speaking. "Miss, my boss would like to invite you to dinner at the restaurant across the street. Please do us the honor and come with me."
Stella stared at him, bewildered.
Someone wanted to buy her dinner?
Who?
She didn't know any men in Brolin City.
It definitely wasn't Julius. If it were him, he would have just called or texted. Plus, he was currently buried in the Kael situation and didn't have the luxury of free time.
