The subordinate looked up at his boss in utter shock. Was that an actual smile on his face?
In the past, failing to complete a direct order would have resulted in severe punishment.
But today? Nothing. Absolutely nothing.
He couldn't help but wonder who that young woman really was.
Had the boss taken a romantic interest in her?
He kept the thought entirely to himself, knowing better than to ask.
...
After picking up everything she needed, Stella found an elegant, quiet restaurant to grab a bite.
Just as she was browsing the menu, a voice spoke from above her.
"Miss, we meet again."
Stella looked up. It was the middle-aged man again.
Glancing behind him, she saw the subordinate who had just tried to block her path on the street.
So, the mysterious guy trying to force her into dinner was this dude.
What exactly did he want from her?
Why was he suddenly popping up everywhere she went?
"What do you want?"
Even an idiot could figure out he had followed her here on purpose.
The man gave a soft, charming laugh. "I originally intended to treat you to a nice meal, but you refused to give me the honor."
"If you know I refused, why are you still here?" What an incredibly dense guy!
"Miss, regardless of the circumstances, I did help you out back there. Is this how you treat the people who assist you?"
Stella didn't hold back. "I never asked for your help. I haven't even yelled at you for sticking your nose in my business, and you have the nerve to come here expecting a reward?"
This guy was clearly just looking for excuses to force himself into her orbit.
The subordinate, furious at her disrespect, barked, "Watch your tone! Do you have any idea who my boss is?"
