Plus, Nadine treated her incredibly well. During the birthday banquet that evening, Grandma had called both her and Stella up to the front and gifted each of them a jade bracelet, saying they were specially prepared just for the two of them.
Although the Blackwood family had many distant relatives, Jason's immediate household was quite simple and very easy to get along with. His parents were also wonderful to her.
Most importantly, she adored Stella. If things worked out with Jason, she and Stella would become sisters-in-law, which meant they could just be sisters for life.
Thinking of it that way made the prospect even more appealing, so she decided giving a relationship with Jason a shot wasn't a bad idea.
"Sabrina, this is amazing! I'm so happy. Come here, give your darling boyfriend another kiss."
With that, Jason leaned in again.
Sabrina pushed his face away. "That's enough out of you. Get lost, I need to sleep."
The man was utterly shameless. They had just made things official, and he was already trying to push his luck.
"How can you be so cruel? We just became a couple, and you're already kicking me out?"
She glared at him. "Jason Blackwood, don't make me regret saying yes to you."
"Okay, okay, I'm going. I'm rolling out right now."
He knew better than to push too hard. He had achieved his goal for the night, and he was completely satisfied and at peace.
The unbearable knot in his chest from earlier had vanished the moment she said yes.
Perhaps, deep down, he had been in love with her all along.
It was a pretty great tradeoff—he only had to take one slap to get a girlfriend.
