Bruno ruthlessly doled out punishments to the men who had just been following his orders, then turned back to Stella with a desperate, ingratiating smile. "Ma'am, does this meet your satisfaction?"
Stella crossed her arms over her chest, utterly unimpressed. "It's alright, I guess. I heard your woman was whispering in your ear, and that's why you had me dragged here?"
Before Bruno could even open his mouth to defend himself, a sickly sweet, skin-crawling voice echoed through the room.
"Darling, I heard the person I wanted was finally brought in! Where is she? I want to take a look... and have some fun tearing her apart."
Stella leisurely crossed her legs. "Long time no see, Rhoda Ford. Are you planning to tear me apart?"
So it was just Rhoda. The illegitimate daughter of the Ford family.
She knew it. She didn't have any real enemies in Cloudcroft City. Why would anyone randomly target her?
But wasn't Rhoda working at some cafe back in the capital?
When did she scurry over to Cloudcroft City?
And how did she end up hooking up with Bruno?
Rhoda stared at Stella, incensed to see her lounging in the chair like she owned the place. She turned to Bruno, completely furious.
"Darling, didn't you promise to tie her up and deliver her to me? Why is she just sitting there without a scratch?"
She despised Stella.
She had suffered at Stella's hands time and time again, and it was entirely because of her that the Ford family had disowned her and kicked her to the curb.
If it hadn't been for Stella, she would have at least remained in the Ford household. Sure, she was illegitimate, but she still lived a life of luxury and had everything provided for her.
But after she crossed Stella, Stella's absurdly wealthy husband stepped in, and the Ford family cut her off entirely.
