Queen of Wild Cards novel Chapter 85

Right in the middle of her sweet daydream, she heard movement outside the door. Thinking Julius had finally arrived, she happily spun around to look.

Instead, two massive wolfhounds, tongues lolling, stalked into the room. Behind them, the door automatically clicked shut.

Chloe was terrified. She screamed, "Don't come any closer! Get away!"

She backed away in sheer panic, but the two hounds kept advancing. Their eyes glinted with feral malice, and saliva dripped steadily from their jaws as if they were ready to devour her on the spot.

Chloe shrieked, "Help!"

She desperately looked around for a weapon to fend off the beasts, but the room was completely bare.

Trembling, she kicked off her high heels and hurled them at the hounds. Her voice cracked with terror, "Stay back, you monsters! Get away!"

Her actions only seemed to provoke them, and the dogs lunged forward.

Driven by pure survival instinct, she chucked her expensive designer bag at them and sprinted toward the door, screaming the entire way.

When she reached it, she found it unlocked. She yanked it open, bolted out, and managed to slam it shut behind her, trapping the beasts inside.

Having narrowly escaped the empty room, she let out a shaky breath, realizing the dogs were locked inside.

Unfamiliar with the layout and too terrified to run into the pitch-black exterior, Chloe spotted an elevator and decided to hide inside.

Her hands shook violently as she hit the button. The doors opened immediately. She rushed in and frantically mashed the 'Close' button.

Just as she did, the door to the room she had just escaped from clicked open automatically. The two wolfhounds bolted down the hall, but the elevator doors sealed shut right before they reached her.

Chloe collapsed onto the floor, wrapping her arms around herself in terror.

"Is that so? It seems you're refusing to speak. Then suit yourself."

The moment the bodyguard finished speaking, the elevator doors automatically slid open!

Chloe was face-to-face with the two terrifying beasts again.

The hounds stood right outside the elevator, barking aggressively, looking like they were going to tear her to shreds at any second.

She mashed the elevator panel in utter panic, desperately trying to get the doors to close.

But the elevator system was overridden. No matter how hard she pressed, it wouldn't move.

Seeing one of the hounds place a massive paw inside the elevator car, Chloe completely lost her mind. "No! Get away! Don't come in! I'll talk! I'll talk! Please, get them away!"
