Of course Miranda couldn't just stand there, but she knew she was no match for Stella. All she could do was shout toward the hallway, "Someone! Get in here! Grab Stella and tie her up!"
The butler and the maid rushed in, but upon seeing Stella, they audibly gulped. The phantom pain of being beaten to the floor by her last time was still fresh in their minds.
They absolutely did not want to mess with her.
"Ma'am, we can't take her. We should just call the cops!"
The butler was terrified that if they didn't call the police, Stella would tear the Hawthorne house apart again.
Miranda didn't want to involve the police. If word got out that she couldn't even control her stepdaughter, she would be a laughingstock.
She already lacked standing among the elite society wives; she had spent years carefully cultivating her image, and she wasn't about to let it be ruined now.
Besides, Frederick was currently expanding his business and constantly networking. He couldn't afford this kind of public humiliation.
"Stella, stop causing a scene. If you have questions, wait until your father gets back. Get out of my house! Throwing a tantrum here won't change anything!"
Chloe scrambled up, yelling defiantly, "Mom!"
Before she could finish her sentence, Miranda cut her off. "Shut up!"
Chloe had no choice but to clamp her mouth shut. Honestly, she was also terrified Stella might come over and slap her again.
This time, Stella didn't say a single word. She simply turned on her heel and walked out of the house.
Miranda, Chloe, the butler, and the maid exchanged bewildered looks in disbelief.
Did Stella really just leave?
No smashed furniture this time?
Was she done fighting? Had she changed her personality?
