Chapter 119
Serena’s POV
Finally… It was done.
Samantha was gone. Serena’s twin sister, who should have been dead, was finally, irreversibly, violently gone. And this time, Serena made sure she wasn’t coming back.
Serena had seen to it herself; she had ensured that the poison that coated the tip of the knife was deadly enough to kill within minutes. She had carefully researched the components, had hand-picked the herbs herself, and had even brewed the poison with her own materials even though she could have made Nellie do it.
Then, once the poison was prepared, she had quietly hired only the most unscrupulous Gammas in the pack- those who wouldn’t feel pity for the whore or rat Serena out to Kade-to help beat Samantha senseless and drag her out into the woods.
She wanted to make sure that Samantha was too broken to crawl back if she somehow survived, and too exhausted to fight back when Serena finally got her revenge.
Once she had Samantha where she wanted her, she had stabbed her in the chest. She had buried the knife up to the hilt, right in the heart. That way, if the poison didn’t work, Samantha would certainly bleed out anyway. It was a foolproof plan.
But, just to be safe, before Serena left, she had made sure she’d witnessed firsthand the light slipping from her twin sister’s eyes. There was no way Samantha could survive that. Nellie then took Samantha out into the wilds, leaving her somewhere that the rogues and the crows could feast on her body. Serena was back in her bed before anyone could notice she had even been done.
Nellie had returned shortly after carrying out Serena’s orders, pale and shaking. She said the job was done-that Elena was dead and she’d deposited the body far away from the walls. Serena grinned.
“Good. Now get out of my sight.”
“But my promotion—”
“Will come to you once I’m Luna,” Serena said, shutting her bedroom door in Nellie’s face.
By the next morning, Samantha’s ghost hadn’t returned for a third time. Good. The freak was finally dead- Serena wasn’t sure how the hell she had managed to come back from the grave before, but it was certainly by unnatural means, and therefore best for her to stay dead.
Really, Serena was doing everyone a favor. For all they knew, Samantha had used some kind of dark ritual to come back to life! Maybe she came straight from hell to ruin all of their lives!
No, Serena wasn’t a cruel murderer or a monster like Samantha had said-she was helping everyone. She was merciful and practical and ruthless when necessary.
And she would certainly make a good Luna because of these qualities.
And as for Kade? Well, he seemed to think that his precious “Elena” had merely obeyed his command and left the pack with her tail between her legs. If his wolf sensed that something was wrong, he would chalk up the agony to her simply being far away, not dead.

If he ever found out she was dead, then he would blame the rogues. Perhaps her bones, picked clean, would only prove this. Serena would definitely never be implicated in “Elena’s” death. It was just a horrible accident, after all; what did she expect, running off in the night all by herself? Serena certainly never had anything to do with it.
