Rebirth of the Alpha's Slave Mate (Samantha and Kade) novel Chapter 141

Chapter 141

Natasha’s eyes flashed. “How dare you. You little slut—”

“ENOUGH!”

Samson’s bellow cut through the argument like a blade. Even my own wolf bristled in fear, and his anger wasn’t even directed at me. He whirled on his wife and pointed at the door.

“Get out, Natasha. Go to your chambers and cool off, and don’t come out until you’re capable of acting like a normal fucking person.” I shivered; I wasn’t sure if I had ever heard Samson curse before. “I’ve had enough of your scheming and plotting-haven’t you embarrassed yourself enough for one day?”

Natasha’s eyes widened. “But Samson-”

“No. Save it. You’re lucky I haven’t stripped you of your title of Luna after what you did today-forcing Elena to perform manual labor when she’s ill, not to mention manipulating a frightened young woman into lying for you. That sort of behavior is not befitting of a Luna, and I won’t have my pack’s status degraded because of such nonsense. Get out of my sight. Now.”

Natasha looked like she wanted to argue. Her eyes darted to me one last time, and I could feel the hatred emanating from them like a beam of disgust boring straight into my skull. But in the end, she said nothing- simply turned and stormed out, letting the infirmary door slam behind her hard enough to knock a picture off

the wall.

Once she was gone, Samson turned to me. He inhaled deeply, calming himself, and offered me a thin smile.

“Well then. Welcome to the family, Elena,” he said, patting my hand. “I’m sorry you’ve had such a rough start. Hopefully it will get better from here on out.”

I shook my head. “It’s alright. It’s not your fault.” I managed a wan smile of my own and took his hand, as well as Tyler’s. “I’m just glad to have you both. I’m looking forward to getting to know each other better, and making up for all the lost time.”

Samson’s shoulders deflated with a sigh of relief. Tyler smiled and leaned down, pressing a gentle kiss to my

cheek.

For some reason, the simple gesture made my chest tighten. Tears pricked at my eyes, and I sniffled, wiping them away. I thought about Ivy, thought about how she belonged here, with this loving little family, and it only turned my joy into bitter sadness.

“What’s wrong?” Tyler asked, pulling back enough to look at me. “You look like you’re gonna cry.”

I shook my head, trying to deny it, but my throat constricted painfully. “I… It’s just…” I sniffled again. “I’m so happy to be together, but now I wish my daughter was here even more so we could all be a family. But she’s stuck in Crescent Hollow with my horrible twin sister, and I have no way of getting to her…”

Just then, Nellie, who had been standing in the corner so silently this entire time that we all forgot she was there, spoke up.

“Speaking of Ivy,” she said quietly, stepping forward, “I think we should talk.”

I looked over at her, wiping at my tears. “What is it? Is she okay?”
