Reborn heiress on a scumbag hunt novel Chapter 10

Chapter 10

1/4

Timothy felt a stir in his chest when he heard Louisa’s words. He shot a sharp look at Rosie, who panicked as she clearly hadn’t expected Louisa to be so sharp-tongued.

“So, ladies and gentlemen, is my daughter someone whom you can casually joke with and bully?” he asked, turning to Donald and Edna.

Donald immediately broke into a cold sweat. “Mr. Lowe-”

Timothy interrupted, “I understand now. From today onward, the Lowes will cease all partnerships with both the Clarkson and Jones families.”

Donald’s expression fell dramatically. “Suzy!”

He slapped Suzy hard across the face, leaving her frozen and staring at him in disbelief. “Dad… did you just slap me?”

“Apologize to Louisa now!”

“Why should I apologize to her when she was the one who hit me?” she snapped back. She’d rather die than apologize!

“Fine. From now on, forget about getting another penny of pocket money.”

Donald’s threat to her finances finally struck fear into Suzy. Seething in resentment, she turned to Louisa and muttered in a barely audible voice, “…Sorry.”

“Pardon? I didn’t catch that.”

Though furious, she still yelled the words, “I’m sorry!”

With that, she turned and ran out, simmering with hatred.

Seeing even the Clarksons bow their heads, Edna finally realized how terrifying Timothy truly was. If her husband realized that this was how she and Lydia got the family backlisted, he’d never let them off.

She quickly grabbed Lydia and demanded, “What are you standing there for? Hurry up and apologize to Louisa now!”

Lydia was extremely reluctant, but since Suzy had already apologized, she had to grit her teeth and bitterly say, “Sorry.”

“Since Suzy has left, please return my desk to the way it was, Lydia. Remember to arrange everything in order because I don’t like messes.”

Lydia nearly exploded with rage now that she had to accept instructions from Louisa, but she

knew she couldn’t refuse. Clenching her fists, she stormed out.

Timothy wanted to take Louisa home, but she refused.

After she left, he turned to Rosie with a dark expression.

She felt a terrible premonition. “What’s wrong, honey?”

“Tell me… How exactly have you been treating Louisa all this time?”

“Why would you ask that?” Rosie murmured, lowering her head as tears welled up in her eyes. “You know how hard it is to be a stepmother. I’ve given her my whole heart, but she’s always believed I stole her mom’s place. I can’t exactly divorce you, can I?”

Timothy softened and pulled her into his arms. “Alright. I know her temper. You’ve had it tough.”

Rosie nodded, though a vicious glint flashed in her eyes.

Back at Class Charlie, Suzy never returned. When the rest of the class saw Lydia, they wanted

to ask how the confrontation had gone, but they watched in shock as she began tidying up Louisa’s desk. It was such an absurd sight, and they looked like they’d just seen a ghost.

“Lydia, did they knock your brains out?”

Otherwise, why would she be helping Louisa with her books?

Lydia nearly ground her teeth to dust. “None of your business.”

“What the hell happened?”

Her reply left everyone completely stunned. Finally, someone asked, “Did Louisa’s sugar daddy show up?”

Lydia kept her head down while she was cleaning up. Something flickered in her eyes at those words before she gave a vague hum.

“Holy crap! Really? Was it some old man?”

“He’s the same age as my dad,” Lydia replied.

“That’s old! How could she even bring herself to.”

“Idiot. All she has to do is spread her legs!”

“I guess that’s true!” The last comment trailed off with laughter.

As they were talking, a sudden chill swept through the room. Louisa had appeared at the back door, leaning against the frame and looking at them with a languid, swaggering air. Her eyes

were cold, sharp, and almost predatory.

The room fell silent. Everyone knew better than to say more.

Humiliated, Lydia finished putting everything back and returned to her seat.

Louisa’s first step had worked. At least, no one dared badmouth her to her face anymore.

Meanwhile, Estelle ended her call with Rosie, feeling deeply disappointed after learning about the outcome of the confrontation: She’d been certain Timothy would finally be disappointed

in Louisa.

She had just put her phone aside when it rang again. This time, it was a call from Stanley, so she picked up.

He had learned through his classmates that Louisa had gotten into a fight but somehow walked away without punishment. He had tried to call her to check on her, but her phone

wouldn’t go through.

Why wouldn’t Louisa pick up? He had worked so hard to get her wrapped around his finger, so there was no way he was letting her slip away. What would he do if he lost her?

No way! He had to check on how she was doing!

Since he couldn’t reach Louisa, he called Estelle instead. “Estelle, do me a favor.”

After a full day of classes, Louisa stretched lazily. It was time to go home.

She packed up, slung her bag over one shoulder and headed downstairs, only to spot Estelle standing in a corner. Without sparing Estelle a single glance, Louisa turned away and walked

off.

“Louisa…” Estelle softly called out. There were too many people around, and she didn’t want anyone to know that they were sisters.

When Louisa didn’t stop, she had no choice but to follow and aggrievedly ask, “Why didn’t you answer when I called your name?”

In the past, Louisa had always answered her right away.

“Sorry, I didn’t hear you. What’s up?” Louisa indifferently replied.

“Stanley’s looking for you. He said it’s urgent, so please just meet him.”

“I don’t have time,” Louisa said coldly and continued walking forward.

Estelle wanted to stop her, but Louisa had a terrible reputation in college. She was worried that getting too tangled up with Louisa would tarnish her own reputation too. All she could do was watch Louisa leave and stomp her foot in frustration.

After going past the gates, Louisa headed toward the convenience store. Just then, a man came up behind her and covered her nose.

Louisa’s gaze darkened. She grabbed the man’s arm and flipped him cleanly over her shoulder. It was only when the man was lying on the ground, groaning, that she finally realized it was Stanley.

She looked down at him with eyes full of cold mockery. “What were you doing?”

“I was just trying to surprise you,” he muttered, sounding hurt.

Since when did Louisa learn an over-the-shoulder throw? It hurt like hell.

“You’re really good, Louisa. You actually hurt me” he added, half-complaining.

“You snuck up on me. I’m going home now.”

“Louisa!” He suddenly raised his voice and grabbed her by the wrist. “Why didn’t you answer my calls? Do you know how worried I was about you? Why did you get into a fight the moment you came back to college? Did you forget everything I told you about not causing trouble and being a good student?”

“Causing trouble?” Louisa murmured to herself and sneered. He didn’t bother asking what had actually happened before accusing her of causing trouble. How blind had she been in her past life to fall for such a man?

She immediately yanked her hand free and snapped, “My matters are none of your concern now, so stay away from me.”

“How could you say that, Louisa? Whatever has to do with you concerns me too!”

As they fought, a car silently pulled up behind them.
