Reborn heiress on a scumbag hunt novel Chapter 14

Chapter 14

“It’s settled, then!”

Louisa had zero interest in the competition and moved off to the side to rest.

When the girls’ draw came up to be volleyball, a collective groan followed.

“Volleyball? You’ve got to be kidding me.”

“If Hallie Mercado were here, we’d win for sure.”

“Exactly. We’re not seriously running ten laps, are we? I’d die.”

Suzy frowned. “What do we do, then? If we don’t play, we’ll lose by default.”

As they discussed, Lydia suddenly glanced at Louisa and said with a nasty grin, “Hey… Since only the contestants have to run, let’s have Louisa play.”

“Yeah! Send her up!”

The group quickly reached a mutual agreement and marched over.

Louisa was reading a book with a lollipop in her mouth when a large patch of shadows fell over her, but she didn’t bother to look up.

“Louisa, you’re playing this round,” Suzy said arrogantly.

“Why?”

“What do you think? For our class’ honor, of course!” Suzy snapped. “You’re part of this class. Are you just going to watch us lose?”

“In that case, why aren’t you playing, then?” Louisa asked, looking up.

Suzy choked for a second before she quickly said, “I’m giving you this chance, so you should be grateful.”

A cold smile tugged at Louisa’s lips.

On the other hand, Class Alpha was ready. They sent out Hannah and Estelle.

Hannah grew up in poverty and did a lot of manual work, so she was strong, while Estelle had experience playing volleyball and was pretty good at it.

Class Alpha was running out of patience from waiting and impatiently called out, “Are you playing or not? If not, just forfeit!”

“Exactly! Stop wasting our time!”

Louisa glanced at them and finally stood up, but the volleyball match required two players. Now that she was in, no one else wanted to join her.

Facing Hannah and Estelle, Class Charlie knew they were destined for defeat. Estelle had taken second place in volleyball on Sports Day. First place had gone to Hallie.

In the end, Lydia was shoved forward. “If we lose, it’s on you, Louisa! It’ll all be your fault!”

Louisa couldn’t be bothered to respond. Since they were going to serve first, she casually spun the ball in her hand.

The male students hadn’t started their match yet and were all watching from the sidelines.

“That’s Estelle on the other side? I guess we’re doomed.”

“Why not just start running now and save time?”

Mockery rippled through the crowd.

Though Estelle’s eyes gleamed with confidence and certainty, she said gently, “Well, I’m not actually that good, Louisa. You don’t have to be scared.”

If Class Charlie lost, they would blame Louisa for the humiliation. It’d make it nearly impossible for her to survive in class.

The next second, the volleyball rocketed straight at Estelle’s face. Her eyes flew wide open, and she didn’t even have time to react, but luckily, Hannah blocked it in time.

After snapping out of the shock, Estelle exhaled sharply in relief before her gaze turned cold. It seemed that Louisa did have some real skill, so Estelle decided to stop holding back against

her.

When the volleyball came again, Estelle struck it cleanly. The ball skimmed just over the net,

clearly one of the hardest shots to return.

Lydia panicked. “What should we do? What do we do?”

In that split second, Louisa slid forward and caught the ball in a dangerous move. Then, she sprang up and smashed it back with ruthless force.

Hannah tried to respond, but she was a step too late. When they were declared to have lost, her expression darkened. The match was best two out of three, so there was still a chance. She steadied herself and made up her mind that this time, she’d make Louisa pay.

But in the second round, Louisa was faster, sharper, and more aggressive than before. The match was over before Hannah and Estelle could even get their hands on the ball.

When they lost again, the crowd froze in stunned silence.

A few seconds later, someone finally blurted out “Wait… I never knew Louisa was this good.”

“That’s insane!”

“Who said Estelle was amazing? Judging from the looks of it, she’s just average.”

“They didn’t even get the chance to fight back at all!”

“Louisa could take them on by herself.”

Class Charlie erupted in cheers and praises for Louisa, while Estelle’s expression darkened. She turned and walked away.

“Wait! Don’t go yet! You still owe us ten laps!” someone shouted and stopped her.

Hearing that, Estelle’s legs nearly gave out.

Louisa glanced their way, then calmly turned toward the sidelines to rest. Everyone showered her with compliments while completely ignoring Lydia.

Though they’d won, Lydia wasn’t happy about it at all. Louisa had stolen all of her spotlight!

The male students’ match came next, but Louisa barely paid attention. She was just vaguely aware that it was a basketball match.

The guys in Class Charlie loved the sport, so Class Alpha didn’t stand a chance at all.

Soon, other classes began arriving for PE.

Stanley spotted Estelle and jogged over to keep her company during her punishment laps. After a brief exchange, he headed straight toward Louisa, who ignored him with her head

lowered.
