Chapter 7
Jasper handed Louisa a box of cookies and reminded her, “You can share them with your
classmates.”
She froze briefly before understanding what his intentions were. He was worried about her fitting in and wanted her to get along with her classmates.
Warmth quietly spread through her chest. In this world, there was probably no one who paid
as careful attention to her as he did.
“Okay! You should leave now,” she said with a smile. “Don’t worry about me. I’m super popular at college.”
After saying goodbye, she walked through the gates and proceeded to the office to formally process her registration.
In the department head’s office, Yolanda Scott asked, “Who exactly is this student you’re talking about, Mr. Lindth?”
“Relax. She’ll be here soon. Take good care of her, and we’ll guarantee you a handsome year-
end bonus.”
Cameron Lindth’s words piqued Yolanda’s curiosity, just as a clear female voice sounded at the door. “Checking in.”
Everyone looked over and saw an exceptionally beautiful young lady with a cold demeanor, dressed in blue and white. Even the plain outfit looked extraordinary on her. Her dark eyes were clear yet carried a lazy coolness and indifference.
Cameron was stunned before calling out, “Louisa Lowe?”
After taking a closer look at her features, he finally recognized her as Louisa.
“It’s you!” Yolanda recoiled as if she’d just seen a ghost. Then, snapping out of it, she immediately turned back to Cameron. “Mr. Lindth, this troublemaker can’t be the student you mentioned, can she?”
Troublemaker?
It wasn’t appropriate for a lecturer to use that word on a student, but thankfully, Louisa hardly
reacted.
Cameron frowned. “Mind your language, Ms. Scott.”

But Yolanda straightened up unapologetically. “You must be setting me up, Mr. Lindth. Everyone knows Louisa has terrible grades, skips class, and has serious character issues.”
The corners of Louisa’s lips curved faintly. She turned to Yolanda, smiling as she asked, “May I ask… what exactly did I do to give you the impression that I have character issues, Ms. Scott?”
Though she was smiling, there was a chill in her eyes that instinctively made Yolanda shudder. When she realized she was intimidated by a student, she sneered and gave Louisa a cold, condescending glance. “That’s what everyone says!”
Estelle had spread rumors around campus about Louisa being a troublemaker with a problematic character and a messy private life.
Students believing them was one thing, but a lecturer accepting the rumors as the truth without even verifying them was another…
“If a lie is told often enough, it becomes the truth. You’ve perfectly embodied that phrase, Ms. Scott. This is my first time realizing the bar for being a lecturer is this low.”
Though Louisa spoke in a calm, unhurried manner, Yolanda’s face flushed with anger. She spun around to Cameron and snapped, “See? This is how she talks to me. I refuse to take a student who doesn’t even respect her lecturers!”
Cameron’s forehead was dotted with cold sweat. He’d received an order from above that Louisa had to be placed in the top class.
The college’s Department of Design had a unique system with three classes in total. Ranked by grades, Class Alpha hosted the elite students, and Class Charlie hosted the worst. Each class enjoyed different benefits.
Yolanda taught Class Alpha.
Louisa, unbothered, said, “Respect goes both ways. If you don’t respect me, why should I respect you? Do I even have to teach you such a simple concept?”
Yolanda’s gaze

gaze darkened. Sure enough, Louisa was as arrogant and stubborn as the rumors
She loudly declared in a voice filled with palpable disgust, “I won’t accept students like her, Mr. Lindth! Everyone knows about the horrible deeds Louisa has done, and I’m responsible for training future elites. Can Louisa even afford to pay the price if she jeopardizes the future of so many others?”
Cameron thought her words made sense and was deeply conflicted.
That was when Louisa spoke up again. “Relax. I don’t want to join your class either. I’m fine with any other class, Mr. Lindth.”

Yolanda exhaled in relief but couldn’t help feeling an inexplicable surge of irritation. She let out a cold laugh, then left with her high heels clicking sharply against the floor.
Cameron had been torn. But after listening to Louisa’s words, he finally relaxed and nodded. ” Are you sure, Louisa? Are you fine with any class?
Louisa nodded.
That was when a lecturer in the back slowly raised her hand. “In that case… would you like to join Class Charlie?”
Louisa turned to see a female lecturer, Linda Carter, standing up and wearing a gentle smile. She was a trainee, serving as a lecturer for the first time. Though under enormous pressure, she refused to give up on any student.
Witnessing how harshly Yolanda had treated Louisa, Linda couldn’t help feeling sorry for the
latter.
“Sure.” Louisa nodded.
After completing the registration paperwork, Linda brought her to class and said reassuringly, “I’m Linda Carter. This is my first year as a lecturer. Don’t take Ms. Scott’s words to heart. I’m sure she didn’t mean it.”
“Got it,” Louisa calmly replied.
Linda let out a quiet breath of relief. “Good. Now, come to class with me. It’s about to start.’

In class, Linda walked up to the lectern and tapped on the blackboard, but the room barely quieted down.
Standing at the door, Louisa noticed that everyone was occupied with their own things. Hardly anyone was paying attention to Linda.
Left with no choice, Linda waved her in. She stepped inside and stood obediently beside Linda.
“Everyone, we have a new classmate today,” Linda announced.
The college’s worst performers were gathered in this class, and they mostly coasted through their studies. Most students couldn’t be bothered by the announcement, and barely anyone looked up.
“Why don’t you introduce yourself?”
“Hello, everyone. I’m Louisa Lowe.”
When her clear, pleasant voice echoed through the room, several male students lifted their

heads. Their eyes widened in succession before they began cheering and catcalling.
“Look! We finally have a beauty in the class!”
“Did we finally get lucky?”
“Wait… Did you hear her name? Louisa Lowe?”

A female student with pink nails, Queenie Zigger, clicked her tongue and softly commented, “I heard her private life is a mess. She’s always hanging around different men, and she’s got a terrible temper too. With her in our class, she’s just gonna drag down our class average.’
“You’ve got some nerve saying that when you’re among the lowest scorers,” another student
shot back.
As students a year younger than Louisa, most of them only knew her by the rumors and assumed someone with a terrible attitude couldn’t possibly look good. They surmised she must have gotten work done on her face to look this attractive now.
Queenie mockingly curled her lips. “Isn’t it obvious? If you’re trying to please rich old men, you’ve got to spend some money. Otherwise, how could she have come back here?”
The implication painted a vivid picture in everyone’s minds. Immediately, disgust flickered in their gazes.
Even the male students who’d been momentarily stunned by Louisa’s looks now frowned and looked sickened. She was pretty, but who would have thought she had such revolting behaviors in private?
Queenie opened her mouth to keep going, but a piece of chalk flew cleanly through the air and lodged straight into her nostril.
