After leaving the Johnson house, Amelia Johnson flagged down a taxi and headed straight

for Harmonia Mall. On the way, she called Emily Carter to have him meet her there.

On the phone, Emily sounded all smug. “Haha, what’s this? Gonna buy me a little treat to

show appreciation?”

“If that’s what you think, I guess I can let you pick something.”

“Wow, so reluctant!”

“Haha, still want it or not?”

“Of course I do! I’m on my way now!”

Once she arrived at the mall, Amelia wandered around the entrance for a bit until Emily

showed up. Then the two headed in together.

Emily, grinning, nudged her. “So, your sister’s gone viral now. Bet you’re thrilled, huh?”

Amelia shrugged, clearly not in the mood to talk about Sabrina. What she was curious about,

Emily shook his head. “Nah, not that smart in the moment. Probably some bystander.”

Amelia nodded, not digging further.

“Go ahead, look around, pick anything you like.”

Right then, Zoey Mitchell and Chloe Hughes strolled over, walking straight toward them with

nasty expressions.

Emily nudged Amelia. “Heads–up. Here come the pests.”

Amelia had already spotted them in the store mirror and snorted softly. “Ignore ‘em. We mind

our own business.”

Even after walking right up, Amelia chose not to acknowledge them. Chloe couldn’t hold it in

any longer and sneered, “Wow, such a caring sister. Your sibling’s got drama going on and

you’re out here shopping like nothing happened.”

Amelia gave her a cool once–over, a flicker of sarcasm flashing in her eyes. “You seem in

great spirits too, being such a good friend and all. Buying all these goodies–must be some

celebration, huh?”

That shut Chloe right up.

Zoey scoffed, glancing at Chloe. “Oh please, don’t play dumb. You’re her sister–you’re much

closer than the two of us.”

Amelia raised a brow, finding it almost funny. “So? Am I supposed to sit at home all day

crying? That’s a bit much, don’t you think?”

“You haven’t even gone to check on her. Great big sister energy, for sure.”

Off to the side, Emily clapped with a grin and gave her a big thumbs–up. “Classic you.”

Amelia just smiled calmly. “Let’s go check out the figurines.”

Zoey and Chloe were fuming but unwilling to let it go. They trailed behind, clearly up to no

good.

Emily loved collecting figurines. His place even had an entire wall full of them–probably

worth enough to buy several apartments in the city.

“Hey, how about that Naruto one? Looks pretty cool…”

Amelia reached out toward it, but Chloe snatched it up ahead of her with a smug, “Yeah, it’s

great. I’ll take it.”

Zoey chimed in mockingly, “Gotta be quick or you end up with nothing!”

Amelia and Emily exchanged a look, silently getting the message–oh boy, here comes the

drama.

Amelia smiled, totally unbothered. “No worries, there’s plenty to choose from. And, hey,

they’re all pricey too.”

She put extra emphasis on that last bit, equal parts warning and hint.

Of course, Zoey and Chloe didn’t actually plan on buying anything. They were just trying to

mess with Amelia and Emily, figuring they’d ditch everything before leaving. Too bad, Amelia

Johnson wasn’t playing their game.
