Chapter 98 Roses
In the end, of course, Sabrina went crying to Richard Johnson, sniffling like the sky was
falling. What really crushed her was how years of her little secrets just got wrecked by
Amelia in one go.
Hmph. Wanna play drama queen? Two can play that game.
Amelia pouted slightly before her eyes welled up with tears. She choked out, “But I already
gave the designer pillow Damien gave me… to my sister…”
Damien. Designer.
Richard’s expression changed in a snap. He even scolded Sabrina. “Your sister already gave
you something better. What more do you want? And it’s not like she did it on purpose.”
“But I-”
“Alright, alright. The new one’s even nicer, isn’t it?” Grace quickly tugged on Sabrina’s sleeve,
giving her a warning look. Things were heating up, and if they stirred the pot more, it’d spill.
She muttered, “You just wanted a new pillow anyway. Now you’ve got it, leave it at that.”
Sabrina was so frustrated she could vomit blood on the spot.
But she had to swallow her pride and say nothing.
She glared at Amelia full of resentment. You little country bumpkin, just wait–tomorrow I’ll
make sure you’re the center of “attention“.
After messing with Sabrina once again, Amelia couldn’t wait to tell Emily. Their call was all
laughter and giggles.
Emily laughed until tears came out. “Pfft! That’s totally a ‘drama queen little sis‘ move!”
“But I gave away your pillow…”
“Don’t worry, it was a promo gift from the brand anyway.”
Of course Amelia would never give anyone something from Damien.
After hanging up, she realized how late it was. She opened her chat with Damien–still no
new messages.
Trann
She scrolled through their past conversations. Honestly, not much going on there.
She sighed softly.
He’s probably busy, right?
If I send a “goodnight” text… Wait, why should I make the first move?
Forget it, just sleep!
She tossed the phone aside, pulled the blanket over her head, and drifted off.
Meanwhile, Damien, still working, kept glancing at the time, eyes skimming over his phone
every now and then. As the hour got later and still no message from Amelia, his brows
furrowed more and more.
By 11 PM, he finally picked up his phone, double–checked it–nothing’s broken.
“This girl… can’t message me first, just once?”
Holding his phone and spinning it gently in his hand, he let out a soft sigh, his voice warm
and full of fondness. “You win.”
His fingers typed out: “Good night, sweet dreams.” And hit send.
Buzz.
The vibration woke Amelia halfway through her nap. She squinted blearily at her screen, and
when she saw it was Damien’s message, her lips curled into a silly grin.
“I was half asleep… dreaming you texted back… nighty night…”
Zoom–voice message sent.
Satisfied, she snuggled back under the blanket, a sweet smile still stuck on her face.
Damien chuckled at the soft cotton–candy voice message she sent. A laugh slipped from his
throat, and a bright smile lit up his face.
So she was waiting too.
That feeling? Perfect.
The next day.
It was Amelia’s birthday party. The whole Johnson house was buzzing. Richard Johnson was
Clar
busy socializing with business associates, while Grace stood nearby helping collect gift
boxes sent in for Amelia.
Someone asked where the birthday girl was, clearly dying to know what kind of woman had
enough charm to make Damien Taylor show up for a birthday party.
Grace blinked, looking around–but Amelia was nowhere to be found. Thinking about how Amelia Johnson had been holed up in her room all morning, Sabrina Johnson couldn’t shake

sincerity, “As your sister, I just want you to be happy.”
