Chapter 99 Once again, she felt like a clown
Why was Damien suddenly in the back garden? Amelia rolled her eyes–it was probably one of Sabrina’s schemes again. She struggled to break free, but it was useless, leaving her
anxious and afraid Damien would get the wrong idea.
“Ethan, can you let go of me?”
“No, Amelia, I know you still have feelings for me. Otherwise, when I got hit on the head that day, you wouldn’t have been so worried,” Ethan said.
The moment the words left his mouth, Amelia sensed a sudden surge of dark energy behind
her–Damien!
In a panic, she stomped hard on Ethan’s foot. When his grip loosened, she shoved him away with all her strength. But the force sent her stumbling backward–right into a solid wall of
muscle.
A familiar scent enveloped her, instantly calming her.
“You okay?” Damien held her steady.
Amelia shook her head and was about to explain, but Ethan rushed forward, eyes red with
desperation.
“Amelia, don’t go! If you’re still mad about what happened, I can apologize–I’ll apologize a
thousand times! I really want to marry you. Please, say yes!”
He pulled out a diamond ring he had prepared and dropped to one knee, eyes full of longing.
Amelia felt a headache coming on. Ethan was like a child throwing a tantrum over candy he
couldn’t have. She had to be firm. Her voice turned cold.
“Ethan, I’ll say it one last time–I’m not angry anymore. You’re not worth being angry over. I
don’t love you anymore. Do you understand?”
Every word stabbed into Ethan’s heart like a knife. He could hardly breathe from the pain.
To make it crystal clear, Amelia laced her fingers tightly with Damien’s and met Ethan’s gaze
with a cool expression.
“See this? You get it now?”
Catecasts Once insin he felt like a down
Ethan left, looking defeated and broken.
Amelia let out a long sigh, like she’d just finished a war. Rejecting someone so directly was
awkward. She was about to pull her hand away, but Damien tightened his grip.
Right–there was still this man to deal with.
She flashed Damien a bright smile. “You heard and saw everything. I turned Ethan down
clearly and completely.”
“Good job.” Damien turned his head slightly, his warm gaze soft and approving.
He led her to a nearby bench. Under the gentle moonlight, his profile looked even more
stunning, like it was glowing.
Amelia couldn’t help but think–he really was good–looking.
“If you’d just added one more sentence, it would’ve been perfect,” Damien said with a smile.
“What sentence?” Amelia asked, puzzled.
Damien’s gaze lingered on her. After a moment, he just smiled and gently tucked a strand of
her hair behind her ear.
He wanted her to say it willingly–and from the heart.
“No rush. You’ll say it one day.”
The mysterious tone only made Amelia more curious. Was there something she was
supposed to say but didn’t know?
Just then, Damien’s assistant arrived with a gown from Ye Xiangnan.
“Go get changed. I’ll wait for you in the hall,” Damien said.
Only then did Amelia realize that three hours had flown by. Time always seemed to pass
faster when she was with Damien.
“Alright. See you in a bit!”
Meanwhile, Sabrina was anxiously peeking toward the garden, expecting to see Damien
storm back in anger. But instead, he returned with a faint smile?
