Thinking Amelia was finally cracking under the pressure, Sabrina Johnson sneered quietly to
herself.
Oh Damien, you’re gonna be so disappointed in a minute.
Damien’s face was taut, posture straight and imposing as he stood beside Amelia–it was
like a prince standing guard over his princess.
He hadn’t planned on stepping in at first. He knew what Amelia was doing and guessed what
she would do next. But when he saw her crying like that, he just couldn’t pretend not to care.
Like hell he’d stand by and watch the girl he liked cry.
Even if those tears weren’t real.
“Well, if Sabrina’s right, then what are you waiting for? Say sorry already!” Chloe Hughes sat
there like she just won the lottery, gloating.
Zoey Mitchell had a flicker of smugness in her eyes. Amelia Johnson, you had this coming!
Amelia, calmly keeping time in her head, finally spoke up, her voice steady. “Oh, someone
definitely needs to apologize. But maybe we should first check out what the camera over
there caught.”
She pointed with a delicate finger, and everyone turned to notice a security camera fixed in
the hall.
Amelia had arranged for it last minute while the crew was decorating–just in case
something happened at her party.
Turned out to be a pretty smart move.
Zoey and Sabrina exchanged a quick glance, both looking kinda uneasy now. But Chloe?
Nope. She didn’t flinch, even gave a cold snort. “Good. Let’s clear this up once and for all.”
Emily Carter was ready. The footage rolled on the big screen.
It showed Amelia only lightly adjusting her dress and shifting slightly to the side. Meanwhile,
Chloe–standing behind her–looked… well, like she totally faked a fall.
And that moment just kept getting played on loop, making it super clear what had really
happened.
