“What the heck is this?!”
Emily Carter flinched as something unexpected landed in her hands. She yelped and
instinctively tossed it away. It flew through the air and landed smack in the middle of the
floor. Everyone instinctively looked–then froze.
Was that… a push–up pad?
Thwack–a second one flew out!
All eyes snapped toward Sabrina Johnson, who was frantically trying to fix her broken strap, clearly panicking. And… the chest area of her dress had suddenly gone suspiciously flat.
“No way, it was all fake?!” someone muttered in disbelief. Laughter instantly rippled through
the crowd.
Sabrina’s mind had gone completely blank. Her face turned red, then pale, then red again. She
wanted to crawl into a hole and disappear. Her head buzzed, but her body was stiff as a
board–she couldn’t move an inch.
This… it had to be the most humiliating moment of her life!
“Don’t stare! None of you look!” Amelia Johnson rushed over, draped her jacket over her
sister, and protectively shielded her, gently murmuring, “It’s okay, Sabrina, let’s leave. No way
I’m letting them see you like this.”
“Ughhhh…”
And just like that, Amelia’s words shattered Sabrina’s composure. She broke down crying,
full–on bawling. This was worse than death.
A few people shook their heads, but at the same time, couldn’t help complimenting Amelia.
“Mr. Johnson, your eldest daughter’s really got a good head on her shoulders. But the
younger one… well, kinda speaks for itself. Messing with fake stuff like that… She should
really follow her sister’s example.”
Richard Johnson’s face, which had just started to recover a bit, turned pitch black. He wanted
to lash out but recognized the speaker as a business partner–he had to swallow his anger.

Meanwhile, a few society ladies huddled around Grace Williams, whispering, “Must be the
countryside influence–your older daughter’s doing great. But the younger one…”
Grace shot them an icy glare and hurried after her daughters. “Amelia, I’ll stay with Sabrina.
You’re the star tonight–don’t leave before it’s all over.”
If anything, Grace just didn’t trust Amelia to comfort Sabrina alone.
Amelia didn’t mind. Her job tonight was pretty much done anyway.
On her way back, Amelia’s gaze casually swept across the room… and landed on Zoey
Mitchell, standing awkwardly in a shadowy corner, like a student being punished. Even from a
distance, she gave off intense, dangerous vibes–like a wild animal ready to pounce.
Amelia frowned. She had already “apologized.” What, was Zoey planning on delivering a
sequel?
She ignored her and kept walking.
What Amelia didn’t realize was just how frightening envy and resentment could be.
Just when everyone thought the drama had ended, Zoey suddenly strode into the center, mic
in hand. “Everyone, I’ve got something to say!”
People love a little drama. The moment someone yells “spill the tea,” no one’s going
anywhere. Eyes immediately turned to Zoey as she stood under the spotlight.
Zoey’s gaze was icy cold. She wasn’t backing down tonight–if Amelia wouldn’t fall, she’d
drag ‘em both down. At least, then, Damien Taylor would finally see Amelia for the fake she
really was.
“Isn’t it just a little too convenient? I mean, how does a dress snap just like that? Funny
timing, right? And wasn’t there someone who hugged Sabrina right before all this happened?”
She didn’t name names, but the implication was clear: Amelia had tampered with Sabrina’s
dress to embarrass her.
And to be fair…it did sound kind of suspicious.
Still, Amelia looked entirely unbothered. Her face glowed with calm softness, like fresh snow,
“Back when Amelia had her first birthday party after returning to the Johnsons, Mr. Johnson
in agreement, nodding, “Yeah, that was rough. She did look pretty bad back then.”

“Amelia,” Damien suddenly turned back toward her, “I was planning to give you your birthday
