Chapter 104 Go to see Damien
Originally, Amelia Johnson was just about to head upstairs for a nice bath when Richard
Johnson called out to stop her, hinting that she should see Damien Taylor off.
“He gave you that dress, and a ridiculously expensive sports car. It’s only polite for you to
walk him out.”
“Be good, it’s called manners.”
That last line had Amelia rolling her eyes internally. Still, her dress was seriously over–the–top,
and luckily, the bottom part from the waist down could be detached, making it way easier to
move.
She had a maid help arrange the skirt, then made her way toward the door. In her head, she
figured Damien must’ve left already–she had, after all, said she wouldn’t see him out.
The other cars were slowly pulling away.
Damien’s black Falcon was still parked in the Johnsons‘ driveway, though.
That car already belonged to her now, so it made sense Damien wasn’t planning to leave in it.
He was probably waiting on another ride–so which one would it be?
Amelia stood there scanning the scene for a while, but still couldn’t spot him.
Suddenly, a familiar jacket–full of Damien’s scent–was draped over her shoulders. She spun
around, her eyes lighting up. “You’re still here? I thought you’d gone.”
Damien’s dark eyes gleamed playfully. “I wasn’t leaving unless a certain someone came to
see me off.”
Earlier, he spotted Richard going to find Amelia, so he’d deliberately hidden, wanting to give
her a little scare. But once he saw her looking a bit lost, he just couldn’t keep it up.
Her cheeks flushed just slightly. “Well… it’s already kinda late, you…”
“See you tomorrow,” Damien replied, answering the question she hadn’t finished.
They smiled at each other, and in that moment, it felt like the world had faded away, leaving
just the two of them.
Just then, Jack Mitchell arrived, a bit out of breath and sweating. “Sorry, Amelia, something
Bandea
held me up. Happy birthday!”
Amelia smiled as she accepted his gift. “Thanks, Jack.”
She unwrapped it–inside was a beautifully crafted crystal swan.
Clant
One glimpse at the brand made her quietly gasp. It wasn’t just any gift–it was from a super
high–end brand.
She felt a little awkward accepting it.
“It’s from the heart, don’t overthink it,” Jack said softly, clearly wanting her to accept–not just
the gift, but everything behind it.
In his eyes, Amelia was that elegant white swan he had crafted.
In fact, that was why he’d ended up late–because he insisted on finishing it himself.
Damien spoke calmly, “Take it.”
With his approval, Amelia finally did take it, her face lighting up. “It’s really beautiful. I love it.
Thank you, Jack.”
The subtle but undeniable connection between her and Damien was enough to make Jack’s
chest tighten uncomfortably.
“It’s late, get some rest,” Damien added meaningfully–also hinting that it was time for Jack
to leave.
Jack gave a slight nod, smiling awkwardly. “Right, you must be exhausted from the party
already. I’ll get going then. Talk soon. Goodnight.”
“Bye–bye,” Amelia waved.
Only after tossing one last glance at Damien did she finally head back inside, satisfied.
That left the two men outside, just standing there. They exchanged a silent stare, neither
saying a word, then eventually walked away side by side.
The next morning, headlines in Heliovard’s entertainment news were all about Amelia’s
birthday bash. With all that drama, plus the tabloid spin, the whole thing read better than any

every word.
