Chapter 115 Love–struck insomnia

No doubt about it–Damien dropped that early reminder on purpose, just to make sure she
didn’t forget his Valentine’s Day gift.
Amelia Johnson was pretty convinced. She immediately grabbed her phone and started
scrolling, racking her brain over what to get Damien.
Not that she had much money to spend right now.
But hey, it wasn’t about how expensive the gift was. It needed to be creative, something with
flair.
She mulled over it for a while, and only when sleepiness finally crept in did she manage to
pass out.
The next day.
Amelia showed up at the Taylor estate looking like a total zombie, yawning so wide she could
catch flies.
“Seriously though, it’s a gift, not a life decision, why did I waste half a day stressing about
this…”
She was grumbling to herself as she walked in, only to smack right into something solid. When she looked up, there was Damien’s ridiculously handsome face.
Her eyes brightened. “Morning!”
Damien frowned and gently rubbed a finger under her eye. “Didn’t sleep well last night?”
Gee, I wonder why.
Amelia wanted to say that, but it just felt like it’d be taken the wrong way, so she quickly backtracked. “Probably the milk tea I had yesterday. Kept me up.”
“Why didn’t you just sleep in a bit?” Damien took her hand and slipped a car key into it. “Was just returning Black Feather’s keys.”
Still half–asleep, Amelia misheard him. She thought he wanted her to drive him to Taylor Corp. “No way. Driving while exhausted? That’s a no from me.”
“Silly, I’m not asking you to drive me. I’m having my driver take me.” Damien naturally swung

an arm around her shoulder and guided her gently. He pointed to the parked car, casually
adding, he’d only stopped ‘cause he spotted her.
After personally seeing her safely into the villa, Damien finally set off for the company.
Otherwise, he was really worried she’d snooze off mid–walk.
Amelia flopped onto the couch the moment she stepped in, pulled a blanket over herself, and
muttered, “I need a nap.”
Emily Carter was brushing her teeth and mumbled through a mouthful of foam, “Classic case
of love–struck insomnia.”
Eyes still shut, Amelia retorted, “You really don’t get tired of spouting nonsense, huh?”
But Emily sounded oddly convincing this time. “You slept at your folks‘ last night, right?”
“Mmhmm,” Amelia murmured as sleep started to drag her under.
“There you go!” Emily waved her toothbrush dramatically, sending bubbles flying. “Word is, when couples who’ve gotten used to sleeping together suddenly sleep apart, it messes up
their sleep.”
Amelia’s face turned red in an instant. She grabbed a pillow and pitched it at her. “Emily! Say one more word and you’re dead meat!”
Emily quickly ducked, still grinning like a troll. “Ha! Nailed it!”
Amelia looked around for another pillow but came up empty, so she gave up arguing and
shut her eyes instead. Still, she couldn’t help thinking… Was that really it?
Kind of checked out.
But then, why did Damien seem totally fine? Slept like a log probably.
Now that rubbed her the wrong way just a bit. She silently sulked for a good whil finally dozing off.
When Amelia woke up from her nap, Emily filled her in on a new gig she had lined up. when I heard you were going to the Friendship Gala, I figured I’d take this on. Having a legi to get in makes blending in way easier.”
After going over the mission brief, Amelia had a rough plan forming.

Besides, she never felt like she’d earned the title of ‘mother.’ She didn’t think she had
to face them.
“So, how long are you staying in Heliovard?” Amelia asked, only then noticing Vivian seemed lost in thought, maybe even a little sad.
