Chapter 121 Perfect plan

+25 Pos

On the way back, Amelia Johnson got a call from Vivian Greene and found out she was already at the airport, about to board.

She felt a little disappointed that she couldn’t make it to see her off.

Right before hanging up, Vivian couldn’t help but ask Amelia fo check with Damien Taylor about where he bought the mochi cake.

“He’s right here, I’ll ask him now.”

Hearing this, Damien eased off the gas, tilted his head slightly, and asked, “What’s up?”

Just then, it was Vivian’s turn to board. “Amelia, text me later, okay? Catch you later.”

“Alright, safe flight, Vivian,” Amelia replied.

Vivian?

Damien quietly made a mental note of that nickname.

Amelia turned to him, “Where did you get that mochi cake the other day?”

Damien kept his eyes on the road and asked back, “Vivian likes it?”

Amelia nodded.

“Send me her address. I’ll have it delivered to her every month,” Damien offered, then added, “It’s not sold anymore, but my brother loved it so much he bought the recipe.”

Once Amelia got the full story, she agreed with one tweak. “Then send it to my parents‘ place–Vivian’s hardly ever at home anyway.”

“Got it. I’ll have it shipped there every month,” Damien replied.

Amelia thanked him right away and quickly texted the update to Vivian.

Out of the blue, Damien asked, “Wanna try it yourself?”

Back when they spent time together, Amelia noticed Vivian didn’t seem to care much about anything- rarely had strong preferences. So, the fact Vivian loved this red bean mochi kind of caught her eye.

“Sure.”

Damien immediately called his assistant, told them to send over a few boxes of the red bean mochi to his place, then took Amelia out for dinner–even though it was already kind of late.

“You didn’t eat much at the banquet, right?”

Ameila rubbed her slightly empty stomach and nodded. She’d been running around all evening, barely had time to breathe.

On any other day, she wouldn’t read too much into Damien checking in like this. But tonight? She couldn’t

help but wonder–was he in the same building earlier?

Maybe he was even at the same event?

So, during dinner, her mind kept drifting.

Damien, ever the sharp one, definitely noticed she was zoning out, but didn’t call her out on it.

Instead, he even had some desserts packed up for her, just in case she got hungry again later that night.

After making sure Amelia got home safe to No. 16 of the Taylor Estate, Damien finally headed back to his place.

“Amelia, you’re back? This mochi is amazing!”

No sooner had she stepped inside than Emily Carter greeted her enthusiastically, still smacking her lips.

“If you like it, eat more. I actually need to ask you something,” Amelia said, settling into the sofa with a serious look.

Emily popped another soft mochi in her mouth and mumbled, “What’s up?”

“I need more details about this latest mission,” Amelia asked, her voice calm but firm. “Like–who exactly did we interfere with?”

Amelia never used to question the missions. She always just did the job.

But this time, since it might involve Damien, she couldn’t let it go.

Emily looked a little surprised, then shook her head. “All I know is, both sides we hit are big players. The client paid really well, though. I already wired the money–35 million. That should more than cover that necklace you bought.“Amelia Johnson was genuinely caught off guard by the price tag. She usually never cared to ask about payment–Emily Carter always took care of that stuff for her.

The priority was always keeping her safe. Every mission meant stepping on someone’s toes, after all.

After thinking it over for a second, she gave in. “Can you eneck into it for me?”

Emily looked puzzled. “Wait, Amelia, since when do you care about this? Did something go wrong during the mission?”

They weren’t just best buddies–they’d been partners for years–so Amelia simply nodded and laid out her suspicions.

“What?!” Emily froze. The piece of snow mochi in her hand fell with a soft thud to the floor.

They were in Heliovard–Damien Taylor’s family’s home turf. If they really crossed the Taylors, making it out in one piece was one thing, staying in the city? Good luck.

Amelia rubbed her forehead and lightly smacked Emily’s head. “We don’t even know for sure yet. Don’t psych yourself out.”

Emily looked completely spooked. “Girl, I’ve got a perfect plan. Foolproof. Guaranteed peace of mind‘

Emily grinned like a scheming fox. “Just marry Damien already Get that marriage certificate. If it turns out we’re in the clear, great If not, hey, you’re family now. Problem solved!”

Three imaginary black lines practically appeared on Amelia’s forehead. She knew better than to expect anything sensible from Emily.
