Damien? What’s he doing here?

At that moment, Ethan looked over at Amelia with a soft, pained expression. He finally
couldn’t hold back anymore and stood up, eyes full of affection, his whole vibe gentle and
considerate.
But just as he moved, a voice cut through the air.
“Amelia.”
That deep, magnetic voice came from behind him, and with it came an overwhelming presence. Ethan froze, instinctively stepping aside, startled, and looked in disbelief as
Damien walked right past him toward Amelia.
She was stunned, completely thrown off guard. “Damien? Why are you here?”
Turns out, Damien was nearby for a client meeting, and his assistant happened to mention
Amelia was also here. Without even thinking, he came straight in.
And then he saw her–sitting quietly in the corner sipping tea. Something tugged hard at his heart. He hated seeing her like that, all quiet and left out. So he didn’t even hesitate.
“I’m here to take you home,” Damien said, reaching out his hand to her, his eyes full of
tenderness and care.

As they were almost out the door, Sabrina suddenly called out. Where she got the guts, no one knew–maybe it was the confidence boost from recently winning first place in a
competition.
“Damien,” she said, “since you’re already here, why not join us for dinner? This party’s to

celebrate my win. Plus, we’re all family–no outsiders here.”
Damien didn’t even glance her way. He just kept his arm around Amelia and walked off.

Being completely ignored like that made Sabrina look ridiculous. Talk about embarrassing.
Just then, the food arrived–winter melon and duck soup. The waiter pointed out it was a dish
Amelia had ordered specifically for Richard.

Amelia nodded sweetly and walked in. She glanced at the gentle stream and bridge outside, but in her mind, she kept replaying the moment Damien came for her.
