Chapter 159 Massage chair

That simple comment made Amelia Johnson pause for a few seconds, actually considering

  1. it. “Makes sense, but not today. I’ve got a theme park to design–no time to waste!”

Before she even finished her sentence, she bolted up the stairs like her feet were on fire.

Not that Amelia was trying to slack off–she really didn’t have the time. The piano competition had already eaten up a huge chunk of her schedule.

She opened her laptop and started sketching ideas. After a bit of thinking, the outline of the

theme park was already forming in her mind.

She grabbed a pen and started sketching seriously, her hand flying across the page.

Time slipped by quickly…

Suddenly, a burnt smell made her frown. Her brows knit together. “What’s that smell?”

A thought flashed through her mind–kitchen?

Worried Emily Carter might’ve blown something up, Amelia dropped the pen and dashed out. As soon as she opened the door, a wave of smoke hit her, making her cough like crazy.

“Cough–Emily, what did you do?!”

“Cough cough, it’s fine, I got this!”

Cue a scene of pure chaos trying to put out the fire. Eventually, both of them flopped onto the couch, totally wiped out, while the kitchen… well, it looked like it had seen a war.

“If the person you liked walked into this mess, it’d probably give them anxiety,” Amelia

muttered, side–eyeing him.

Emily was covered in soot, even had a few scorched hairs smoking, and pouted. “I just… you know what, whatever. I did buy a bunch of groceries though, it’d be a waste to toss them.”

“I’ll cook,” Amelia stood up and rolled up her sleeves.

She’d been hungry before, but now she was *starving*. Her stomach was practically yelling.

“You? Seriously? That poor kitchen can’t handle any more trauma,” Emily said quickly, clearly

skeptical.

Amelia shot him a look. “I might not be a pro, but I *have* helped Damien Taylor cook before,

okay?”

“Alright then, I’m gonna hit the shower,” Emily replied, giving up.

Amelia gave the kitchen a quick tidy–up before opening the fridge and staring at it for a while.

Eventually, she picked out a few basic ingredients.

By the time Emily came out of the shower, his eyes widened.

“Amelia, what are you doing? Cooking or running a science experiment?”

“You don’t get it,” she said seriously. “The tutorial says five grams of vegetable oil–I’ve gotta be precise, step by step. Even if it’s not amazing, it won’t be a disaster.”

But barely a second later, she tossed the recipe book aside.

Then she started dumping in soy sauce and salt without measuring a thing.

Emily looked baffled. “Now what kind of logic is that?”

“I’m missing one spice already, so what’s the point in measuring the rest precisely? Just wing

it,” she said, clearly frustrated.

He gave her a look and said, “When you stick to rules, it’s oddly impressive. When you throw them out the window, I honestly have no counter.”

“Just get ready to eat,” Amelia said, focused, as she threw everything into the pan.

Emily was still trying to figure out her cooking approach when the smell hit–it was actually

really good.

“Okay hold up, this smells amazing.”

Amelia didn’t waste time and turned up the heat. Before long, she served up the dishes with

two bowls of rice.

“Dinner’s ready!”

Emily took a bite, chewing slowly… then his eyes sparkled like he discovered hidden treasure. “Whoa–this is actually good!”

Amelia raised her eyebrows smugly. “Duh, obviously.”

“Aren’t you saving some for Damien?” Emily asked.“Uh… maybe let’s call it a day. I’ll wait until

I get better at this.” Amelia Johnson looked at the less–than–presentable stir–fry mess in front

of her- yeah, definitely not worthy of someone like Damien Taylor.

Emily Carter nodded, totally understanding – who doesn’t wanna show their best self in front

of the person they like?

Later, someone knocked on the door.
