She made it back to her room without a hitch. Damien Taylor was already done with

breakfast. Amelia lifted her hand weakly and flopped straight onto the bed.

“What’s going on?” Damien rushed over, touching her forehead gently.

“I’ll be fine, just need a bit of rest,” Amelia mumbled.

Damien frowned hard. “No way, you’ve got a fever. We need to go to the hospital.”

“It’s not that bad. There’s medicine in the drawer–I’ll be okay after taking some.”

Amelia refused to budge, so Damien could only bring over some porridge and feed her before giving her the medicine. “If the fever doesn’t go down in three hours, we’re heading to the

hospital. No excuses.”

Amelia hummed in agreement and snuggled into him.

“Why’d you show up last night out of the blue? Weren’t you swamped?”

“No matter how busy I am, I still gotta sleep, right? So I finished things early and came over,” Damien said, tucking the blanket around her carefully. He had actually planned to share some good news with her last night.

He hadn’t really spent much time with her lately because of work.

And in a week, he’d be flying abroad again.

“But how’d you catch a fever? Weather change? Or did you dress too lightly yesterday at the

teahouse?” Damien asked.

That jogged Amelia’s memory–Sabrina had made her sit right under the air conditioner, and

it’d been freezing.

She’d been so focused on watching out for Grace and Jessica Williams that she didn’t see

Sabrina’s little setup coming at all.

No wonder Sabrina backed off so fast earlier. She probably hoped this would happen and was thrilled Amelia wasn’t feeling well.
