Chapter 172 Being the female lead for a day–2
So of course, the moment Zoey showed up in that outfit, people swarmed her, instantly
assuming she was the thief.
Somebody even shouted, “Call the cops!”
Zoey panicked, yanked off her mask, and tried to defend herself.
“This outfit was given to me by the stylist! I didn’t steal anything, stop making stuff up!”
Too bad the stylist had already disappeared into thin air, so no one believed her. Everyone just
assumed she did it out of jealousy toward Amelia, and honestly, the story fit too well.
With everyone pointing fingers and no one on her side, Zoey was completely stuck–tears
welling up from pure frustration.
As she walked past, Amelia grinned and tossed out, “Since you like it so much, just keep it.”
Then she turned back with a smirk, “So–how’s it feel being the female lead for a day? Pretty

Zoey’s face turned ghostly pale. She glared at Amelia like she’d been stabbed.

But Damien quickly closed it again, fussing, “You wanna catch a cold again and end up back

Amelia pouted. “Okay, fine, no fresh air. But I thought you were swamped. What are you doing
here?”
“I’m flying out tomorrow,” Damien replied. “So this was the only chance to come see you.”
He wasn’t a fan of chatting online–he preferred this. Seeing Amelia face–to–face, catching
every twitch of her expression, every tiny look or smile. And, well, being able to hug and kiss
her too.

Hearing he was leaving tomorrow made Amelia’s heart sink a little.
“When will you be back?”
“What, already missing me and I haven’t even left?” Damien teased.
She shot him an annoyed look. “Forget it if you’re not gonna answer me.”
He chuckled and gently pinched her cheek. “You’re such a dork. I’m not sure how long I’ll be
gone, but I promise I’ll let you know as soon as I figure it out.”
“Is it something complicated?” Amelia asked, picking up on the tone in his voice.
Damien ruffled her hair. “Don’t stress over it. I’ve got time now–wherever you wanna go, I’m
“Then… let’s hit Jing’an Temple,” she said without much thought. “It’s nearby.”
It was already past five in the afternoon, and the temple was nearly empty–just a monk or
