Chapter 203 You showed up
Seeing Damien Taylor’s name made Amelia Johnson hesitate. She could pretty much guess
why he was chosen as the award presenter–lately, he kept complaining about how slow the
updates for “Fog” were coming in.
He was clearly way too into this novel.
After thinking about it for a while, Amelia decided maybe it was better not to go.
But one day, she’d tell him everything. Every little secret–straight from her own lips.
“Tomorrow I’m attending the Young Creators Awards. Maybe I’ll get a chance to pressure the
author of ‘Fog‘ in person,” Damien said as he came downstairs, a smile playing in his voice.
She could tell–he was kinda excited.
Her decision started to waver.
“Do you think the author of ‘Fog‘ is a guy or a girl?” Amelia asked, seemingly casual, but her
gaze had a hint of curiosity.
Damien sat beside her and easily pulled her into his arms. “Honestly, never gave it any real
thought. Whether it’s a guy or girl doesn’t matter. I’m here for the story.”
Her eyes sparkled with mischief. “What if the author’s a woman who looks a lot like me-
would you be into her?”
He raised an eyebrow, teasing, “You trying to trap me right now?”
Amelia burst out laughing. “No! Just answer me seriously.”
“Definitely wouldn’t be into her,” Damien said, eyes steady.
She stared into his eyes, trying to spot even the tiniest hint of a lie–but there was none. A
warmth spread through her chest.
The next day, Damien headed out early for the event. When he found out the author of “Fog”
wasn’t coming, he was lowkey disappointed.
Still, he kept his cool and went through the formalities.
The event host stood stiffly beside him, sensing the mood shift around Damien and not

daring to speak a word.
Then, Damien’s eyes paused. What was once a calm, distant gaze turned softer, gentler-
even the corners of his mouth lifted.
Claims
In the crowd, a girl stood out like a light in the dark. She smiled at him from across the room,
warmth blooming on her face like spring sunshine.
As soon as the event ended, Damien wasted no time stepping off the stage.
People were slowly clearing out when Amelia made her way over. Their hands found each
other naturally.
Damien was clearly overjoyed. “You showed up! Didn’t expect that.”
Truth be told, Amelia hadn’t planned to come at all. She was worried she’d give herself away.
But after tossing and turning half the night–and especially seeing Damien putting on his
sleek suit–she changed her mind.
There was something she needed to say.
“Even if we didn’t meet today, it wouldn’t matter. People who are meant to meet, will meet-
sooner or later.”
It was a quote from Vivian Greene. She’d told Amelia that after visiting Heliovard twice and
still failing to meet Amelia’s boyfriend.
And it stuck with Damien. He smiled. “But for me, having you here now–it’s perfect.”
They walked back to the Taylor Mansion hand in hand, doting on each other the whole way,
leaving Emily Carter third–wheeling hard.
“Weren’t you heading to visit Zoe?” Amelia looked at Emily, curious.
Her smile faded just a little. She shook her head. “Nah, guess I’ll game a bit instead.”
Amelia and Damien exchanged a glance.
“In that case, can you team up with Lily?” Amelia asked. “She’s been super into that game
lately. Me and Damien have been training hard for the couples tournament next week.”
“Sure, no problem,” Emily said with a shrug.
And just like that, the two headed upstairs to play their game.“Let’s go with the couple’s

match first,” Amelia Johnson suggested.
Damien Taylor had no objections–whatever she wanted, he’d go along with it.
