Chapter 217
Amelia Johnson wasn’t exactly shocked when she heard about Sabrina’s miscarriage. It was kind
of within expectations, but still, something about it didn’t sit right with her. There were too many
things that didn’t add up, and she needed to get to the bottom of it.
She picked up her pace toward the hospital room where Sabrina was staying. Just as she got close, she heard crying–Sabrina’s sobbing echoed through the door, with Grace Williams trying to
calm her.
“My baby, Mom… I want my baby back…” Sabrina’s voice was broken, heavy with grief.
Grace sighed. “Don’t cry, Sabrina. Hearing you like this just tears me up inside…”
Listening to them, Amelia raised an eyebrow. Something about their conversation felt… off. Like it was being performed for someone. So she paused at the door, waiting for the noise to die down
before knocking.
The moment she pushed the door open, Sabrina erupted into another loud cry.
But when both Sabrina and Grace saw it was Amelia, they froze for a moment. Clearly, they were expecting someone else. A beat later, the person they wanted finally showed up.
“Where’s the baby? Is my grandchild okay?” Patricia Collins burst in, looking like she’d run all the way there after hearing the news. The second she realized the baby was gone, her legs nearly gave out. She stood there, mumbling to herself in disbelief.
Ethan Collins arrived a moment later. Seeing his mom barely holding it together made something
in his chest twist.
“Mom, come on, don’t do this. It’s just… we’ll wait a few more years, then you can be a grandma.”
The second he said that, Sabrina’s tears welled up again. Like a dam breaking. Her voice shook as she spoke with a bitterness that couldn’t be missed.
“Ethan… our baby’s gone… gone…”
Ethan rubbed his face, clearly frustrated. “Seriously, what were you even doing? You knew you were pregnant–couldn’t you have been more careful? Let me guess, you wore high heels again?”
“No, I didn’t–after last time, I haven’t touched them. This time…” Sabrina’s voice dropped and her gaze fell on Amelia. Her eyes were full of accusation, and the tears just kept coming. “I mean, I know Amelia would never do it on purpose, right? So don’t blame her. It was me–I was careless…”
All eyes suddenly turned to Amelia, who was standing quietly in the corner. The room filled with

suspicion. Rage. She could feel it boiling beneath the surface–especially from Patricia, whose glare was practically murderous. She charged at Amelia in a blind rage.
You evil witch! Give me back my grandchild!”
But Amelia had expected something like this. She sidestepped easily and looked the furious
woman dead in the eyes.
“You’re saying I pushed Sabrina down the stairs? Okay, then–who actually saw that happen? Got
any proof?”
Her calm, direct questions made everyone turn back toward Sabrina.
Sabrina looked even more heartbroken. “You think I’d kill my own baby… just to frame her?”
No one in their right mind would believe a mother could go that far. It defied logic. So, naturally, they all started assuming Amelia really was to blame. Patricia looked like she wanted to rip her
apart.
“Amelia Johnson, this is on you! You’ll pay for this! You will!”
But then Amelia dropped a quiet sentence that felt like a bomb going off in the room.
“Are we sure she was even pregnant? I’m pretty sure I saw Sabrina on her period just a few days
ago.”
Sabrina instantly snapped. “What are you saying?! You seriously think I faked a pregnancy to trick everyone?!“Grace Williams was absolutely furious. “Amelia, how could you accuse your sister like this? She didn’t even hold it against you, and you’re still at it!”
Then she glared at Amelia Johnson. “What, do you think we’ve roped in the entire hospital to lie to
you?”
“If no one believes me, then let’s just have Sabrina take a test. If I’m lying, I’ll take whatever consequences you want.”
“She’s already exhausted and heartbroken, Amelia! Why can’t you just leave her alone? What are you trying to do, huh?” Grace tried to shut her down, like always shifting the blame to Amelia. The way she talked it up made it sound like Amelia still had feelings for Ethan Collins and was out to hurt Sabrina and the baby.
Ethan turned to Amelia, full of mockery in his voice. “Never thought you’d be this twisted. You’d even hurt an unborn child, huh?”
Amelia wasn’t about to waste breath explaining anything to him. She just stood her ground.
“If you don’t believe me, then have Sabrina do the test. We’ll see what’s really going on.”
Patricia Collins, swallowing her concern for Sabrina, shot Amelia a death glare. “You’re going to jail
for assault. Just wait.”
“What do you mean, no test? Of course we’re doing it!” Richard Johnson stormed in, glaring hard at Amelia. “Let’s see what lies you’ll come up with next after this!”
