Chapter 39 Don’t leave me
Amelia Johnson suddenly realized she hadn’t grabbed a towel or her pajamas.
“Damien, are you there?” she called out.
“Yeah, I’m here,” Damien Taylor responded.
Even though there was a door between them, Amelia still felt her cheeks heat up. “Can you bring me a towel and my PJs? They’re in the cabinet next to the bed.”
“Give me a sec,” he said.
Soon, she heard footsteps, followed by a knock. “Amelia, I got them.”
She cracked the door a bit and reached out her hand to take them.
Once dressed, Amelia stepped out. “All done, your turn.”
While Damien was in the shower, Amelia picked up her phone and sent a message.
Amelia: Hey Vivi, wanna grab some late-night snacks?
Vivian Greene: You’re back home?
Amelia: Yup, just got in.
Instead of replying with text, Vivian called her. There was clear concern in her voice. “You little rascal, finally decided to come back. How’s your health?”
“I’m really sorry, Vivi.” Amelia felt a wave of guilt.
“Sorry about what?” Vivian asked.
Amelia replied, “I finally get what you were trying to tell me before.”
There was a pause on the other end. “Good. Then I didn’t waste my effort.”
“Still want that late-night snack?” Amelia asked.
Vivian said, “I’m out of town.”
“Then next time for sure. I’m always free,” Amelia said.
Vivian had taught Amelia a lot-like a mentor and friend rolled into one. Her home was nearby, but seeing her was as rare as spotting a unicorn.
Amelia grabbed a blanket and tossed it on the couch, making herself comfortable there first.
Not long after, the bathroom door opened.
Damien stepped out, shirtless, with just a towel around his waist.
Dude had serious* abs.
