Chapter 55 Thief

“At the last party, you swiped Madam Stanley’s bracelet. Lucky for you, Mom and Madam Stanley are close, or you’d have been thrown in jail. You can’t let her see you here she’s still fuming.” Despite what she was saying, Sabrina Johnson was obviously dying for Madam Stanley to notice Amelia Johnson.

Just then, Patricia Collins and Ethan Collins walked over.

Sabrina looked flustered. “Auntie, Ethan, please help talk some sense into my sister.”

“What’s going on?” Patricia asked.

“Amelia once stole a bracelet from Madam Stanley, and now she’s here too. If she spots Amelia, she’ll definitely lose it,” Sabrina said anxiously.

Patricia narrowed her eyes at Amelia, clearly displeased. “You stole from Madam Stanley?”

Amelia responded evenly, “Auntie, I didn’t steal anything. It was all just a misunderstanding.”

“But you were caught red-handed back then! Madam Stanley nearly called the cops,” Sabrina cut in, looking like she was about to cry. “Sis, please just leave, okay? I’m begging you.”

Chloe Hughes, who couldn’t stand Amelia, was set on making sure Madam Stanley saw her here.

She went up to Madam Stanley with a bright smile. “Hi, Aunt Stanley.”

“Chloe! Long time, no see. You’ve grown prettier!” Madam Stanley replied warmly.

“You’re too kind-you’ve been glowing younger too,” Chloe smiled back, then added casually, “Though it hasn’t been that long. It was just recently when, you know, your bracelet got stolen.”

Ugh, even thinking about it made Madam Stanley fume. “That bracelet was a gift from my husband for our anniversary. I was so mad! Thank goodness I got it back. If not, I swear I would’ve pressed charges!”

Back then, she had indeed wanted to call the police. But Grace Williams had stepped in, pleaded for Amelia, even gave her gifts. They were friends after all, which helped smooth things over.
