Chapter 64 We should take responsibility for what we do

Cham

“Money?” Damien Taylor groped around blindly on the couch until he found his wallet. “I’ve got money. It’s all yours.”

Amelia Johnson: “…” Yeah, definitely drunk. She joked, “My dear Mr. Taylor, wanna bet I could record this and post it? It’d go viral in no time.”

Damien mumbled, “Amelia… my head’s spinning.

“Then sleep. Don’t mess around with all this drama.” She got up, ready to leave.

But Damien clearly didn’t want her to go. His voice came out low and husky, “Amelia, I want you…”

“Sorry, Damien!” Just as he was about to kiss her, Amelia kicked him away.

The couch was huge, so technically he shouldn’t have fallen, but the guy was completely out of it. He rolled over and thudded to the floor, then just laid there, unmoving.

“Damien, you okay?” Amelia rushed over. Turned out he’d just fallen asleep.

It wasn’t easy, but she somehow managed to haul him onto the bed. By then her whole body was exhausted, so she flopped down right next to him.

In the middle of the night, Amelia woke up groggily – someone was kissing her. Her whole body felt like it was on fire.

Suddenly, images flashed through her mind – and it hit her. She’d already lost her first kiss… way back on her birthday… to Damien.

That memory brought her straight back to reality. She jerked away from him and jumped out of bed.

Damien? Still dead asleep. Maybe he was sleepwalking, or maybe the booze hadn’t worn off, who knew.

Amelia ended up crashing on the couch alone, but when she woke up in the morning, Damien was right there next to her. Dude’s sleepwalking habit was kinda next level.

Just as she was about to get up, Damien grabbed her wrist.

Good thing she’d braced herself, or she might’ve flattened him.

“Did I wake you?”

Damien rubbed his temples. “My head’s killing me.”

“I’ll go get you some water.”

“Thanks.”

She brought a glass of water over, but seeing how rough he looked, just set it on the coffee table.

“I’ll help you sit up.” She reached out a hand.

Once Damien sat up, she handed him the glass.

had a few drinks last night,” he såld as he took a sip. “I don’t handle alcohol well. I didn’t do anything embarrassing, did t?”

Amelia quickly shook her head. “No idea. I went to bed early.”

“Alcohol hits late, you know? Should’ve stopped earlier.” Damien’s lips curled slightly, clearly noticing how she was trying to dodge the topic.

When she stayed quiet, he asked, “What’s wrong?”

Amelia bit her lip. “There’s something I’ve been meaning to ask…”

“What is it?” Damien looked at her.

“It’s about… the first time we met. Did we… did something happen between us?”

Damien seemed to know exactly what she was getting at.

Amelia looked down, her face red as a tomato. “Did we… have a moment or something more… intimate?”

“You remember now, huh? Then I won’t deny it.” Damien looked her straight in the eye. “The reason I picked you to pretend to be my girlfriend was ’cause you stole my first kiss.”

Amelia: “…” Knew it. Total mess-up.

She looked up at him. “Something was slipped into my drink that night. I didn’t mean for any of it to happen….””I get it, so I’m not blaming you,” Damien Taylor raised a brow slightly. “But we’re both adults. We should take responsibility for what we do.”

Amelia Johnson nodded like a bobblehead, patting her chest. “I will, I swear. I’ll take full responsibility!”
