Amelia smiled with that same genuine expression. “You’re such a great sister, Sabrina. I’m lucky to have you.”
Sabrina curved her lips in a fake warm smile. “We’re family. I’ll take care of things with Ethan for you, no worry.”
Of course Amelia wasn’t buying that. Sabrina being this nice? Yeah, right. She just wanted to see what game her dear sister was playing this time. Fine-bring it on.
By evening, Ethan arrived to pick both of them up.
As they walked to the car, Amelia started heading for the back seat.
Sabrina immediately grabbed her arm. “Sis, you’re his fiancée. You should take the front seat.”
Amelia gave Sabrina a quick glance. “Nah, I’ll sit in the back with you.”
Sabrina made a face like Amelia was being ridiculous. “Stop being stubborn. Just sit in front, okay?”
Ignoring her, Amelia quietly slipped into the back.
Sabrina followed her in with a playful tone. “You know, playing hard to get won’t work forever. Can you stop being mad at Ethan already?”
Amelia didn’t bother responding.
Ethan’s expression darkened. He said coldly, “Sabrina, don’t waste your breath. She’s clearly not listening.”
Sabrina caught the annoyance in his voice and felt a flash of satisfaction. Hooked her finger in a sweet smile. “You’re both super important to me-I just hope you work things out.”
“Sis, say something, will you?” Sabrina reached out, holding Amelia’s hand.
Amelia shook her off casually and yawned. “Kinda tired. Gonna nap a bit. Wake me when we get there.”
Sabrina’s sweetness was seriously overkill. Amelia was getting a headache just watching her act cute. Best to tune her out completely.
After a beat, Sabrina spoke again, soft and pitiful. “Ethan, I’m sorry. I tried my best.”
She wanted their relationship to hit rock bottom, but even she didn’t expect it to go this smoothly. Was Amelia seriously still thinking this was some sort of flirty power play? Where the hell did she even learn that?
