Reborn Second Chance With The Scheming Tycoon novel Chapter 97

apter 88 Competition

“I don’t really get what you’re talking about,” Richard Johnson blinked in confusion. It was the first time Amelia Johnson had spoken to him like that-it almost felt like he was the kid here. But since he needed her help, he let it slide.

Amelia frowned slightly. “Even if Damien Taylor and I are friends now, I can’t just do that. It’d be way too obvious. The reason we’re close is because he thinks hanging out with me helps him relax. The guy’s under so much pressure all the time-if I start talking business when he’s trying to unwind, how do you think that’s gonna go?”

Richard nodded slowly. “You’re not wrong. But now that we know someone like him, we’ve gotta find a way to ask for his help.”

“Dad, you can’t rush this. If we push too hard, it’ll totally backfire,” Amelia said earnestly. “Think about it- Damien Taylor’s not someone to mess with. If he decides we’re annoying, crushing us would be as easy as stepping on an ant. We really can’t afford to get on his bad side.”

“You’re right. I didn’t really think it through,” Richard admitted, realizing he’d moved too fast trying to get Damien to invest.

Amelia yawned. “Anyway, I’m heading to bed.”

She closed her door and locked it behind her.

Not because she wanted to nap-she was about to work on some design sketches.

After lunch, Amelia got in the car with Sabrina Johnson and Ethan Collins.

Sabrina looked stunning today. In contrast, Amelia kept it simple with a light lavender tracksuit.

Turning to her sister, Amelia asked, “So how does this competition work? Do you guys draw on the spot

or…?”

Sabrina replied, “No, we just have to submit our pre-done pieces.”

“Ooh, where’s yours? Can I get a sneak peek?” Amelia asked with a grin.

“It’s fine, you’ll see it later,” Sabrina said casually. She definitely wasn’t about to pull it out now-

“What would you even know about it?” Ethan chimed in, his tone a bit mocking.

“Okay, I might not be a pro or anything, but I do have taste, you know. I just wanted to admire it a bit, that’s all,” Amelia retorted internally rolling her eyes. You’re the one who wouldn’t know art if it hit you in the face.

“Don’t rush it, sis. You’ll get to see it once the comp starts,” Sabrina said with a little smile. “If I win something, you can come on stage with me.”

“For real? That’d be awesome!” Amelia replied with wide eyes, clearly hyped. “I bet you’ll get first place, hands down.”

Sabrina lifted her chin slightly. “First place might be a stretch. I’d be happy just landing a spot.”

Chapter competition

“How many contestants are there?”

“Sixty.”

“Wow, that many?” Amelia grinned. “Tell you what, if you snag first place, you owe me a fancy dinner.”

Clam

“If I score at all, I’m buying,” Sabrina said smugly, though she kept up her modest front. Deep down, she was convinced the win was hers. That painting? Top tier.

Veritas Academy of Fine Arts, gymnasium.

Only thirty minutes left before the competition started.

Amelia got a w******p message.

Turning to Sabrina and Ethan, she said, “I’m gonna run to the restroom real quick.”

Five minutes later, she walked into the principal’s office. Emily Carter lounged on the couch, pointing at the folder on the table. “Amelia, all the entries are in here. Wanna take a look?”

Amelia Johnson nodded. “I’d like to see Sabrina’s piece.”

Emily narrowed her eyes slightly. “What, planning something sketchy?”

Amelia gave a small snort. “Come on, I’m not that type. If you don’t wanna show me, whatever.”

“I’ll show you, geez. No secrets here. You can look at anyone’s,” Emily quickly opened the folder and started flipping through it for her.
