Chapter 4 The

Luna’s Wrath

Chapter 4 The Old Luna’s Wrath

Bitch. This is all her fault. She’s the reason I got chewed out!

Thomas’s silent fury grew with every jab, the pressure of the needle increasing against her

skin.

In my previous life, it hadn’t taken long after our mating for Thomas to start abusing me. He forbade me from telling anyone.

I couldn’t run. I couldn’t hide. I just endured it.

So yes, I would take Leander over Thomas any day.

Sorry, Vivian. You picked this mate yourself. Don’t blame me.

The old Luna entered the dining hall, leaning on her cane carved with the Alpha’s crest. Everyone rose to greet her.

She waved for everyone to sit, but her gaze snagged on Vivian and froze there. A chill settled into her eyes.

Vivian was still wearing that revealing strapless leather dress, hickeys peeking out across her skin. She hadn’t covered up at all.

The second she noticed the old Luna staring, she plastered on a shy smile, playing coy.

“Mom, Thomas did all this. He said he wants me to carry a pup, you know, give Bluemoon Pack an heir.”

The old Luna’s face twisted with rage. She swung her cane and cracked it across Vivian’s back.

“Shameless! What happens between mates stays between mates. You don’t parade it around, and you certainly don’t dress like that in public. You’re disgracing Bluemoon Pack!”

In my previous life, an omega had been sentenced to a month of border patrol just for wearing a short leather skirt. After that, nobody dared break the pack’s dress code again.

That was why I’d been so careful about everything, from the way I spoke to the way I dressed. Following the rules to the letter was the only reason I’d managed to survive in Bluemoon Pack

at all.

And that was exactly why Vivian assumed my comfortable life was all thanks to being mated to Leander, the future alpha.

Her logic was flawed from the start. Why did a good life have to depend on someone else?

“Mom, I’m sorry. I didn’t know.” Vivian’s forehead was slick with sweat from the pain.

Thomas jumped in to smooth things over.

“Mom, it’s my fault. I forgot to tell her the rules.”

That was what he said out loud. Inside, he was loving every second of it.

She deserves it. Watching her get hit? Best part of my morning.

What a sick freak.

Still, Vivian was new to the pack. The old Luna didn’t push it further. She sat down and told everyone to eat.

Leander barely spoke through the entire meal, but he quietly made sure I had everything I needed.

I could feel Vivian’s glare burning into me from across the table. If looks could kill, I’d be in pieces.

I smiled even wider. “Thank you, my Alpha.”

The old Luna gave me an approving smile.

“Mia, after breakfast, go with Leander to the administrative headquarters and start learning the ropes. As the future alpha’s mate, you should understand the pack’s territory, resources, and how things run. It’ll help you support Leander down the road.”

I knew she was going to say that.

Because in my previous life, she’d said the exact same thing to Vivian at this very table.

But Vivian had waved it off. “I don’t wanna learn any of that. I’ve got Leander to take care of me. That’s all I need.”

She’d shoved away the best opportunity handed to her.

And when she was eventually thrown out of Bluemoon Pack, she had nothing. No money, no skills, no way to survive.

“Of course, Mom.”

I

gave the old Luna a warm nod.

After dinner, Leander took me to the pack’s administrative headquarters.
