Reborn to Marry My Best Friend's Uncle novel Chapter 149

Sean narrowed his eyes, a familiar sneer curling his lips, his face still radiating that usual arrogance and the haze of alcohol. He clearly hadn't expected to run into Annie here.

Annie's expression turned cold on the spot. She couldn't believe her rotten luck!

She must have been cursed. How would she keep running into this clingy piece of trash?

A wave of pure, physical disgust rose in her stomach. All she wanted was to get as far away from him as possible.

Her mind had already been a mess all day because of Christian's lie. And now, she had to deal with the enemy from her past life. It felt like she was getting tortured twice over.

She didn't even bother sparing Sean a glance. She shifted sideways, trying to walk around him.

However, Sean refused to let it go. He stepped across her path again, blocking her a second time.

"What, I dumped you, and now you regret it?" He looked her up and down with open mockery. "You know I come here often. So, did you come here on purpose to run into me? Are you trying to play hard to get?"

Annie finally stopped and shot Sean a cold look. There wasn't a trace of lingering feeling in that look, like she was staring at a pile of garbage that needed to be taken out.

She didn't say a single word. She simply turned and went around him from the other side, heading straight into the club.

Sean's expression went instantly dark.

Annie actually dared to look at him like that!

Ever since the engagement was called off, she had been acting like a completely different person, treating him as if he were beneath her notice. That sharp, humiliating contrast only made the anger in his chest burn hotter.

If she were here, it couldn't be for any reason other than him. She had to be pretending.

The more Sean thought about it, the more convinced he became. A cold, triumphant smile tugged at his mouth as he strode after her.

"Don't act so high and mighty," he sneered. "If you didn't come for me, then what, you just happened to be here? Come on. Have a drink with me."

...

Not far away, inside a black van, a bodyguard held his phone up and aimed its camera at the club entrance.

He captured a clear shot of Annie walking in first with Sean right behind her, close enough to look like they were together, like they had just had a petty little spat.

His job was to report exactly what he saw.

...

Inside the club, the lights and shadows churned in a dizzy blur.

The air was thick with alcohol, perfume, and smoke, a heady mix that made breathing feel a little hard.

The moment Annie stepped into the noise, she felt instantly uncomfortable.

Sean stuck to her like a curse, right on her heels. "Annie, you're already here. What, you scared I'll see you?" he taunted.

Annie's brows knitted tighter.

She quickened her pace, trying to lose him in the swaying crowd. But no matter how far she went, he stayed right on her tail. That disgusting voice and stare followed her like a shadow.

She thought that he was completely out of his mind. How could he possibly think that she'd come to a place like this because of him?

She needed to figure out a way to shake this piece of trash off her.
