Sean's body jerked violently as two burly men seized him and shoved him into an SUV.
As the SUV careened wildly down a bumpy dirt road, Sean's heart sank further along the way and plunged into an endless abyss.
Where were they taking him? What were they going to do to him?
He pushed the questions away and refused to dwell on them. He dared not even imagine what the answers were.
Finally, the SUV stopped in the yard of what looked like an abandoned factory. Sean was dragged from the SUV, legs buckling, and thrust into a dim room.
At the center of the room, a man, shirtless from the waist up, sat slouched on a battered couch. A ferocious-looking wild dog was tattooed across his chest.
He was the feared gang leader ruling the area, known as Dingo.
Dingo lazily lifted his eyelids and sized Sean up as his men pushed him forward.
Sean had no fire in him at all. Cowardice clouded his eyes, no different from the miners they once dragged in as prisoners.
Dingo immediately lost interest and impatiently waved his hand. "He's depressing to look at. Drag him out and feed him to the wolves."
Sean's mind buzzed, then went blank. Survival instincts drowned out his fear as he all but roared, "Don't kill me! I'm useful. I can bring you huge profits!"
Dingo paused, seemingly piqued with interest. He motioned for his men to loosen their grip.
Sean's legs nearly buckled. Forcing himself upright, he rushed to lay out his bargaining chip.
"I'm Sean Frost, the second son of Jynston's Frost family. The Frosts are well known in Jynston; you can check!"
He looked at Dingo urgently. He still had a bright future ahead and Cecilia waiting for him, so he absolutely couldn't die in this godforsaken place.
Dingo raised an eyebrow, seemingly surprised by the revelation of his identity. However, he showed little reaction.
Seeing that it was't enough, Sean steeled himself and threw out his trump card. "I have an ex-fiancee, Annie Steward. She's now married to Christian Parker of Jynston's Parker Group.
"You've heard of Parker Group, right? It belongs to the wealthy, influential Parker family."
